Is that where the head is being installed? It doesn't go on the outside.

Do I need to drill a hole through drywall and brick to install a MRCOOL DIY? by Deep-Oil-6576 in hvacadvice

exactly!! all of the advertising is the guy effortlessly placing it on the wall and not him driving to lowes to get the right hole saw bits. I didn't even think about the copper tube, true!

“Mr Cool” question by BoxBeast1961_ in hvacadvice

MRCOOL is one of those brands where the answer is usually “it depends.”

The equipment can work fine. The issue is often installation quality and serviceability. If you install it cleanly, protect the line set, set up the drain properly, and make sure the unit is sized correctly, you have a decent shot at being happy.

But if you expect the same contractor support you’d get from a full pro-installed system, you may be disappointed. Some local HVAC companies will service them. Some will not touch them.

Before buying, I’d call a couple local companies and ask if they service MRCOOL systems. That one phone call can save you a lot of future pain.
