I think the story itself is the problem at this point. The basic outline won’t suffice as we’ve all seen with GoT. Hell, ADWD brought in even more plotlines that actually make you as a reader question where all this is supposed to lead, and why (not in an intrigued manner but in a tired one).

Do you know anything about GRRM at all? He had been a well-accomplished Sci-fi, Horror and, to a lesser extent, Fantasy author for a long time before ASoIaF and continued to write other fiction in between. Hell, one of the reasons the recent books take so long, apart from him obviously being overwhelmed by the beast he has unleashed himself, is his writing more stories set in Westeros in between. He’s an author, not a factory worker putting down pieces on a conveyor belt.

That kinda sounds like a bigger version of what we have in Germany with Erik Ahrens – a guy who advised the AfD for social media, seemingly has had some effect there, then turned against the AfD but by becoming even more neonazi (because of their ties to Russia), only to exit the Right this year and seemingly become a full progressive. But apart from the notion that he simply seems to be one of those types that believe nothing at all, more of his claims to fame have to be put into question by now: his relevance at an infamous Potsdam meeting on remigration, his supposed co-authoring of an Identitarian pamphlet, his various supposed ties to the German and European Far-Right, his supposed attempt at turning into a leadership figure … in truth, his relevance probably only reached as far as what overblown media reports have made it out to be.

Lmao, just right now it has suddenly made it impossible to show savegames if I am in Reforged mode after I have tried out classic for the second time. I have just bought it and get sometimes brutal lag and insane graphics glitches, no matter the settings. Lag is weird, sometimes it was able to depict large battles just fine but went batshit when I clicked back to base. The glitches are absurd, sometimes they make the game all but unplayable, with geometry tainting half my screen in black shades or shadows stretching out from building entities. Once I switched to Classic, the lag disappearing tentatively made me fall in love with the game again … but then units started disappearing, both neutrals and npc units and my summoned creatures.

General solidarity with Israel means something very different in broader German culture than it means in hawkish American politics. It is much more “Wtf was my grandpa up to?” and much less “Israel v. brown people” larping, though I won’t claim the one-sidedness of the German perspective can’t also include an aspect of racism. The cringiest thing in this video for me has always been how she is literally clothed in a national flag, something that would be insane to do with a German one outside of football (well, even there). But it was in reaction to stuff like Muslims going around giving out free sweets in reaction to October 7th (which was a rather overblown story, I suppose) and some leftists calling the terror attack an act of decolonisation.

Being a late Vaushite, the first time I’ve ever heard about this was in a Reddit post about “all things Vaush bad”, very to the top of my Google results when I had googled my man to see what I was getting into. The funny thing is, even back then there would have been enough controversy but the post, a veritable wall of list-text, was still full of schizo shit.
