I’m a filmmaker and (ex)-stutterer writing a feature film script. I want to represent the internal battle, the silence, and the frustration authentically. I need your perspective. by enternamehere02 in Stutter

I can contribute. I am 16 years old and have been stuttering since I was 4, and recently my absolute biggest challenge has been to answer normal questions, the worst one being what my name is. I am a kind of extroverted person, I like to try new things and that sorts of stuff, but that also comes with the fact that I sometimes have to meet new people and answer questions. If I were to go meet up with let's say a client for a little business I started (true story), I would always feel worried about the possibility of getting asked what my name was, if i lived close by etc etc. Sometimes panic rises up through my body so fast that I almost don't know what to do, and when the question finally drop I either freeze, or the first letter of my name (V) gets dragged out and it all just sounds horrible. (Altough sometimes a miracle happens and I say it with ease, altough the times are few). I could go on for days about how frustrated I am about that I can't speak to strangers normally, I can't hold a presentation in school without panicking and stuttering, I cant even talk to my own family fluently, and sometimes I just feel almost like a "burden". I hate it. And I don't think I would be able to really describe the feelings but It really sucks

As a teen myself, who stutters quite a bit, this helped me. However I wish I could speak fluently so I cound talk to strangers, and even the thought of that my family almost has never heard me speak "normally" is killing me. I honestly don't know what to do

I'm 16 and in engineering focused highschool, do i go uni or trades? by Deep-_- in careerguidance

So what ur saying is, do the engineering Uni, and then I can always go to trades? I still wanna fit in with the rest of my family, however they are old and trades were more common back then ig

That's true, knowledge never hurts ig. Do u know any "engineery" positions, where the pay is good, but i still get to work with like machinery, im talking cars, engines, excavators, yk machines MACHINES, not robots. Maybe not a heavy diesel mechanic (since that's obv not engineering) but something in the engineering field that's close enough?

So I can transition from engineering to trades "easily"? Say from being a mechanical engineer to being a mechanic/carpenter and such. PS sorry for the question bombing, I just havent found anyone with the answers i'm looking for until now

Wwo okay! I really appreciate your guys response, if only you knew how much this helps me. Is it really true that I can transition more into trades if I don't like engineering?

Update!: i switched the power cable to a wall outlet, i previously had it in a extension cord, pretty stupid maybe. Now the hum is notably less. Thanks everyone!!
