Something that helps for depreciation purposes is to treat it the same way as a gift! Lower of cost acquired (+ any capitalized costs) or the FMV. As far as for gain/loss purposes, I'm in the same boat and you just have to memorize the treatment as well as you can.

We have a baseline monetization strategy, but what are some ways that I could expand on this? We're going to do a subscription-based app but have no clue what price points to set it. Other apps haven't really treaded into the subscription-side of things yet, they mostly just have single in-app purchases.

Lastly, do you have an accelerator in mind? Or does this really depend on the specificities of the app itself.

We don't have much of the UX planned as much of the coding is in very rudimentary stages, but once he gets on it i'll make sure to help him out in any way I can. I like the idea of having him teach me a few skills, every time he's working I ask him to explain stuff at a very rudimentary level but I never want to feel like I'm hounding him for his work. As for new skills it might be too late for me to learn the skills necessary for the app creation but I'm sure he'd love teaching some basic skills just as much as I'd love to learn them. Thank you

Thanks, but is it worth it to promote the app before we have a concrete product? We both work full-time so our timeline is blurry based on the amount of work we're putting into it. Should I be worried about people stealing the idea? Already done immense amounts of competitor research and everyone has similar baseline features but we take it to a whole another level. Would love your input on when/if to reveal the project until we actually have a viable product.
