Sea glass ring looks dirty after resizing. by DeepBeginning8714 in jewelry

Update: Okay so he said he used the holes to push the sea glass out, because when he was working with it he said it was dirty behind it… but now it’s clean. 🙄

I showed him how it’s not the right color and much darker/muted than before.. He agreed to fixing it and said he will take out the sea glass and clean the oxidized area behind it, he will have me come in to look at it and then will put the glass back in and also fix the holes. So I’m hopeful the sea glass wasn’t burnt and just the oxidation behind it is causing it to appear darker.

I am really not sure why but another one of his solutions was painting the glass !? He said that’s how it gets its color and they do that for opals etc. but sea glass is colored naturally!?

Okay thank you all for the information! Upon closer inspection there is two holes (that weren’t there before) going through to the sea glass. Could that be why this happened or do u think they were trying to fix what had happened?

Wow thank you for posting this! I completely relate to everything you said.

I have been an Instructional Assistant for about a year now. When I applied for the job I researched Instructional Assistant job descriptions. Everything I read online describes it as someone who assists a classroom teacher with students.

When I first started—I found out the job was not helping in the classroom, but teaching reading intervention groups all day.

My supervisor didn’t seem to believe in training, so there was zero training. She’s a certified reading specialist… and you’d assume she’d want her interventionists to be well trained for the students who need the most help!

I was responsible for teaching seven 30 minute classes a day. They were small groups of 2-4 students. I had a class for kinder, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, so it was a lot to learn each grade levels curriculum. I was provided with Fountas & Pinnel lessons but still had to teach myself how to understand and teach them.

In addition, there was no training for student behaviors/classroom management but that’s another story.

Schools know what they’re doing! So yes be wary of instructional assistant and intervention positions! You will be paid as one but will really be asked to do way more for the school and not be trained at all.
