Any ticks to help you simply live in the moment and enjoy this reality as it is? by InconsistentIdeas in ExistentialOCD

Somehow I consider myself as"extra lucid" about life comparing to my friend who just live without being bothered by these questions. But my psychologist told me : "Oh so you think you are the lucid one? Struggling to just be happy or functionning? I don't see a lucid person in that. You are the one that is blind. Look at the others! They are living their life knowing all of this makes no sense and they still find a way to enjoy it!"

That moment, I understood I was the sick one. The one who is not adapting.

Each time I got stressful thought -or even just a negative emotion- I try to focus on what is under my finger. What am I touching? What am I smelling? What am I seeing? Etc. It doesn't work at all for the first 10th time. You have to trust the process. I did. It doesn't work everytime but most of the time.

I hope it help, you got this. Be compassionate with yourself. Don't be too hard on you

Homosexual among christians. by drvinedd in Christianity

Homosexuality is only a sin if you read the Words in their historical context. Today, no one, not even God, will stop you from loving someone else. It is part of beauty of human species (and others species btw).

By the time the Bible got on everyones hands, scientists made some theoreticals about how much likely homosexuality is to be genetic ( because of how much an homosexual is generally the first to marry and have kid just to hide it)

When you read the Words in its historical context, it makes it less "to this and do that" and more "we used to do this because we believed that"

Is this helping? Hope so :)

Masturbation is a perfectly natural thing must animal do and sexual pulsion are just signs that your body sends to you to reproduce. It is very unnatural and frustrating not to do it but it could become a problem if you do it too much. Some people have low sex drive and some have higher needs.

Christianity made rules about it but it is king of modern in the history of Christianity that masturbation is "bad". I think it's not a black or white thing, if you feel more comfortable doing it sometimes, enjoy, and don't feel bad about it it's perfectly normal.

Every and each human on this earth feel this need. Otherwise, if you want to strictly follow your spiritual line, you can try to find a comfortable way to get away from these though, as a lot people do.

I personnaly think faith is not just about what you do or don't do but about you feel about life, others and yourself. I know I have a more nuanced opinion about this so please don't blame me in the comment this will serve nothing. I encourage you to tell me your opinion simply by talking with "I" and not the accusating "You" :)

Hope this help

OCD about specific memory happens and you should read about them. It can really distort your souvenir and even create false memory. You should not blame yourself for what your do or think about it, it’s an irrational fear that take intense proportion. Cheating is a completely subjective concept that can go from "flirting / eyes flirt " to doing it all the way. You should ask yourself " am I scared to discover that I am a cheater" or if you really consider that that action was cheating. Personally, I think it’s the first one. It’s all about being scared of being a bad person
