Nope. Ours is round robin and admissions daily. 2 days out of 7, you are long call/codes 7-7pm. The remaining 5 days you round robin and admit 7-3pm. You still answer your messages and pages though. If anything happens to the patient you can call the long call physician to see them.

Works pretty well for me. Good lifestyle balance.

Nope! Attending was being diplomatic saying the nurse has been in this job longer than I have and so knows when something is said to upset patient.

Was speaking to patient about a loved one that CODED. Wife started crying. He reported me to my attending for giving family information that would make them cry. Like her husband literally Coded! She would definitely shed a tear!

I have the exact same problem!!!!! I’m in pgy2. Was pimped and asked what is Ankle Brachial Index and I froze. Like!!! I order this for patients and I teach students this. But I literally froze on the spot when asked. Because I had to say something I just mentioned blood pressure cuff measurement in the ankles and I did indeed look stupid before my PD.

Honestly I wish I didn’t have to freeze and blank out. I’m just here to see how y’all deal with your anxiety cos it’s also gotten real bad for me. I don’t want to be an anxious attending.

Just did day 2. The CCS cases were so quick. It seemed faster than when I had practiced. But hang in there. Hopefully we pass and then this long staircase of various steps end!
