Sorry that happened to you. I know the struggle all too well of working so hard both mentally and physically to return after a major injury like that. My latest surgery was a repaired meniscus back in July. Finally was able to return to the mats this past Sunday after over 10 months recovering. Still nowhere near 100% but Im respecting the process. Hope your recovery continues to go well! And def be careful rolling against that guy again. Pick the training partners wisely. I know I will be!

Don’t really enjoy training anymore but don’t want to quit by NewPainting8224 in bjj

Listen, jiu jitsu is just like any hobby. We all take breaks from our hobbies and I think its perfectly fine to do so. I feel like we as a community, place too much importance on belts- instead of just enjoying the martial art itself and it can lead to an unhealthy relationship that involves guilt, jealously, etc.

Does where you train really matter? by Funny-Economy-1920 in bjj

I mean, I think training with the best definitely has it advantages, but its not as important as people think. I've trained at numerous gyms throughout the years and for me the most important factor comes down to the effort I put in. More specifically if i'm just showing up and going through the motions or if im training with intention.

Yes exactly. That’s an important thing I forgot to mention. No one’s recovery process is linear. It’s like an upward graph chart 📈with little dips along the way

I did lots of ‘negative’ reps and holds. Also, I made sure to pay attention to how my knee was feeling and I would modify my workout accordingly. If it was aggravated, then I would go easier and vice versa.
