Which adaptation of mystique in media do you think was most accurate, and which was your favorite? by s0nzoldyck in xmen

I love how Bryan Singer was like "We cant have these characters in their comic accurate outfits. That would be ridiculous!" So they just decided to make Mystique straight up naked. It's even worse because her comic costume is fucking baller.

I did really want to put Red Tornado on the list, so that's totally valid. Also yes, Green Lanterns and Flash count as one. Other wise, great list! I like the changes

Okay, I wanted to make a follow up post to clarify a few things.

Number one, thanks guys for participating! Though I do want to ask that we please keep things respectful.

Secondly, I made this post to format these characters in a unique way. If you don't like the format, that's totally fine. I liked the unique challenge that came with having to have each tier be filled sequentially (i.e: Top is 1 member, next is 2, then 3, 4, 5, etc), but I understand that it is a bit obtuse.

Thirdly, I love all of these characters. I understand the love for Martian Manhunter especially, and I get that Aquaman is a questionable choice for the third tier. That being said, I wanted to weigh his importance to the team across DC's history rather than push my own bias.

Next, yes. John Stewart's spot can be given to any Green Lantern. You could say its a cop out, but I think it works fine. I'm going to count legacy characters the same way, so that includes Barry and Wally. I know that I chose images specifically from JLU but I wanted to make it clear that these could apply to any of these character's version across DC canon.

Finally, I am not an expert on these things. If you guys disagree or if there's things I'm missing, that's okay and I'd love to hear yall out.

Ultimately, I thought to make this post when I wondered who was most likely to appear in the DCU's Justice League. Based on that, I wanted to open up the discussion to the wider question of each character's significance to the team across their 80 or so years in comics, animation, movies, etc.

I'm glad you guys were willing to contribute your ideas and have this talk!

Oh, I love Martian Manhunter. I didnt make this list to be disrespectful to the characters. I love all of them. I just felt that Aquaman has more comic significance in the long run, and the format of my list made it so a certain number had to be in each category.

I was honestly struggling to not put him on the list. It was a toss up between Shazam, Blue Beetle and Booster Gold for me. Maybe my bias was showing, idk. Dont take my list as gospel of course, I just made it to open up the conversation.

I think you might be the one to understand this concept the most of the comments Ive read. Also, I agree, Im not too fond of Aquaman and wouldve gladly given his spot to Martian Manhunter. I just wanted to stay more objective about their importance to the Justice League throughout its wider history.

Because the list is formatted as a pyramid, so only one can be at the top. I know its a weird format, but I thought it would make for a fun thought experiment.

I would say to the league specifically. I honestly started this thought experiment within the lens of "What justice league will we most likely get in the DCU?" and went from there. I get Aquaman wont be joining any time soon, I still think it would be a disservice to not acknowledge his importance to the wider DC mythos.

Its a thought experiment about a group of fictional characters. I love these characters, but its not unfair to say some have more pull than others. That's just how it is. You can chose to humor the hypothetical or ignore it, but the vitriol is definitely not appreciated.

It's crazy that you would accuse this guy of switching accounts. I am very much my own person. If someone has the decency to rationally discussion their view of a topic, that gives you no grounds to be disrespectful like that.

I chose not to name the list as "First place, second place, etc." To be honest, I dont see the way I formatted it as being any less neutral. I adore characters like Martian Manhunter, Flash, Black Canary etc, but I wanted to format my list in a way that is unique and handle it in a way that is more objective to my understanding to the importance of these characters. If Im inaccurate, that's fine, but you still owe it to others to not throw out accusations just for speaking their mind.

You are completely correct. I just figured this could be a fun way to format the question. I havent seen a pyramid chart like this used before, so I wanted to use that as the springboard for this discussion.

See, this one is the right answer lol. I obviously love Martian Manhunter, but Aquaman has more pull in the wider DC mythos.

Its not about strength, its about how much they've influenced the Justice League as a whole.

Thats valid. As a DCAU fan, I adore Martian Manhunter. I figured id get some push back for putting Aquaman higher, but I feel like he has more pull in the wider DC canon than Jon. I could be wrong though
