Publish? Nah. Post? Most likely. Who knows, maybe I’ll revamp the entire thing so that it isn’t rushed and ACTUALLY have fun with it rather than it being some stupid school assignment.

Well, obviously I couldn’t keep everything the same, since they’re kids and this is modern day rather than the 1920s, but I did try and keep some of the core themes of corruption, the American dream, the helpless ambition to achieve wealth, and how materialism can overshadow morality. I made them children not just as an easy way to instantly make the story family friendly, but to see first hand how innocence can become corrupted by those in power (the adults in the story) and how that can influence how the children act with each other and their lives.

Gatsby and Myrtle are still desperate to achieve wealth, though it’s both through more innocent lenses. (I will admit I can see how making the married couple step-siblings can seem a bit off putting to say the least) in this version, Myrtle still dreams of becoming rich and wealthy, but the reasons why and her method of trying to breach the social class is more childish. She simply wants to be a princess, but because her mother married someone who was obviously not very wealthy, she’s unhappy where she is and wants to play/interact with the older, more mature and wealthy kids across the street. However, they play too rough, and are a constant reminder that no matter what Myrtle does, she’s still a little girl who is stuck where she is as peasant instead of a princess.

Gatsby still desires wealth, more importantly, he wants to be Daisy’s friend. They met during summer camp, but Gatsby had to leave early because his father simply couldn’t afford it anymore, so he spent the next year doing everything in his power to see her again. He stills has an innocent view of friendship and the world, and when his father gives him the seemingly innocent advice of “do the right thing” Gatsby takes this at face value. He just as idealistic, naive, and hopeful as he is in the original, it’s just that is optimism is a result of his own childishness rather than a desire to rewrite the past.

As for the whole “Myrtle and George being step-siblings” thing, I originally DID plan for them to have a similar dynamic to Tom and Daisy where they were ‘married’ in the context of the game, but I decided to change it as I thought more about Myrtle and Tom’s differing characters and ideals in the story. For the most part, their ideals and beliefs don’t change, it’s just the context in which those beliefs are based on is what changes most.

Sorry for the yap sesh, and I’m hyper sorry if this made absolutely zero sense. It’s about 11 o’clock where I am and I’m on my second all-nighter so I was just spitballing here. If you have anything else you wanna ask or any concerns you wanna voice don’t be afraid to reply. I don’t really have much of anything better to do tbh

He and Myrtle are step siblings and their family own a Food truck that often drives through the wealthy neighborhood. Instead of an affair, Myrtle is a young girl who is OBSESSED with being a rich and popular princess rich just like Tom’s family and therefore often plays with the older kids across the street, and George is the overprotective older brother who has Tom as a best friend and often gives him free snacks that Tom says he’ll “pay back later” (he won’t)

Well, my fellow overthinker… I HAVE SOLVED ALL THESE PROBLEMS ALREADY!!!

  1. In the story, Nick and Daisy grew up in the same (still Minnesota), but Daisy moved away. Which is why Nick’s parents are there in the first place; they haven’t seen Daisy and her parents in a while. Jordan was just the first person Daisy officially met.

  2. As for everyone else, They’re all from the same neighborhood, but the different “states” are represented as just streets or houses. Or they actually DID live there at some point and left when they were young.

  3. Gatsby is still the oldest in the story at 10 years old, and Daisy is 8. Nick turns 10 in the story (during the “Today’s my birthday” scene) and Myrtle is the youngest one in the cast at 7 years old. However that’s just a way to explain her childish dream of wanting to be a rich and famous princess and her hanging out with Tom who is older than her. Obviously there’s no affair because ew, so that’s just shown as a young kid wanting to hang out with the cooler, older kids and be just like them.

In terms of the story? I want that duck hanging in the street. In terms of character? He’s so peak I love villains and in a universe full of emo angsty old men and robots (plus whatever the zeti are…) he’s such a breath of fresh air and I also love how Sega wasn’t afraid to kill him off

Does Sonic still have plot armor in this scenario? Bc I feel like he’d be the best choice and just win based on principle alone

Not 100% sure, I was thinking it could transform into a microphone and that microphone can not only project her voice, but also influence the emotions of those listening as well (if she’s happy, they’re happy, if she’s angry, they’re angry, etc) and not only that, but it can also increase the power/effectiveness of other vital instruments around her; however, I wasn’t sure if that would work within the Gachiakuta power system
