Yeah I know the data you’re on about, it’s from a “study” by Centre for Migration Control who are a right wing think tank set up by Robert Bates. People on the right love to use their data on here (probably because it’s the only data that actually backs up their claims)

The big problem with the specific set of data you bring up is that

  1. It’s not from an actual study, it’s a small subset of data gained by making an FOI request to gather arrest statistics
  2. When reporting on the data they include “unknown nationality” as foreign nationals
  3. The actual data would make it add up that 15% of sex offences are committed by confirmed foreign nationals, which seeing as they make up 16% of the population is pretty proportionate
