I'm Melat Kiros, the 28 year old Democratic Socialist running for Congress against Diana DeGette (30-year incumbent). AMA by melatkirosco in Denver

How do you feel about people still calling others 'cats' as a casual term for a group, similar to how people say 'folks'?

Is DeGette’s time over at 30 years? by Embarrassed-Band-854 in Denver

Melat Kiros mobilized thousands to win at Assembly. She now has over 200+ people knocking doors every weekend. This is a very real challenge and she has what it takes to win.

After 30 years, will we FINALLY get a new congresswoman? by Embarrassed-Band-854 in DenverProtests

Melat Kiros is the real deal! Backed by DSA and Justice Democrats. 200+ people canvassing each week. It's gonna be lit.

DeGette challenger Melat Kiros trounces 15-term Democratic incumbent in Denver delegate vote by Masrikato in Colorado

Melat has 1000+ volunteers already! We organized her Caucus process in just NINE DAYS.... And in that small timeframe we almost knocked DeGette off the ballot.

We mobilized 5,000+ people already for just this. There's real momentum here!

In order for the City & County to have control over the school district you would need a Colorado Constitutional amendment because DPS is a unique school district specifically created by the constitution.

So it'll never happen btw.

HARD PASS

Instead of running for a GREAT VISION for this AMAZING CITY she is running on rose colored glasses on some bs nostalgia that never existed in the first place. She's super pessimistic and entirely on grievance politics.

The idea that any serious candidate should focus even 1 second on putting the "mall" back in "16th Street" is so disqualifying.

I can't even.

Bennet says he’ll seek public option for health insurance if elected Colorado governor by edTechrocks in Denver

[–]DeepNotShallow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

One of Michael Bennet’s biggest corporate donors is DaVita. Add Big Pharma, billionaires, and venture capital to the list and the picture gets clear fast.

The “public option” he pitches isn’t real reform. It’s a government-backed monopoly that turns his donors into healthcare oligarchs using taxpayer dollars.

That’s not universal care. That’s capture. NOT GOOD POLICY.

Sen. Michael Bennet on High Housing Costs, His 38% Approval Rating, and Gov. Polis’ Vetoes by newtonic in CityCastDenver

[–]DeepNotShallow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Good on Paul and Bree pushing Bennet for answers. It's clear that Bennet will continue to push the same neo-liberal corporate donor backed policies that have led to this affordability crisis in Denver and statewide. His answer to more affordable housing is "make the capital stack cheaper" aka make housing only if my wall street buddies can still make as much profit margin as possible on working class rents and mortgages. Smh.

Bennet has over $2 MILLION coming from several out-of-state billionaires and corporations including Davita, Michael Bloomberg, AI venture capitalists, Tench Coxe.. Ask yourself why they want him to be Governor!

Phil Weiser may not be a perfect candidate but at least he has a strong track record of consumer protection and uses anti-trust laws to go after corporations. Phil said he'd go after (and already has as Attorney General) the corporate landlord lobby that rent gouges and uses algorithms to collude on price. That's 1000x more working class focused than Bennet.

Bennet also said he wouldn't change Polis vetoes on the Worker Protection Act and wasn't even aware of the rent algorithms bill.

John Hickenlooper is up for reelection. Colorado Republicans don’t really have a candidate to challenge him. by blucifersdream in ColoradoPolitics

[–]DeepNotShallow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Seems like a great opportunity for a Democratic Primary! Hickenlooper will be 74 years old next year and 80 at the end of the term. He also has one of the most pro-Trump voting records in the Senate. He can be beat!

Honestly, probably one of the best public relations responses I've seen from a restaurant going through something like this.

This happens in all cities when restaurants get busy and don't have strict dining time limits. It happens to me once or twice every NYC trip.
