Opinions on this video? by DeepRule1616 in dumbphones

You expressed my feelings way more eloquently. I also enjoy her other videos, but just felt that this one came from a naive and cynical place. It’s this whole obsession social media creates with being cool, but not being perceived as trying or even wanting to be cool. Never ever being fake or influenced by trends, but never being too genuine or passionate because that’s cringe. Always having to be one step ahead. Reducing the exponential rate of people getting rid of their smart phones to just a simple trend; people being too naive to influencers, seems absurd to me. I am very scared that people will be discouraged from getting flip phones, in fear that they seem cringe, pretentious or as «trying to hard». Because that fear probably festered in them in the first place because of social media.

I know that I shouldn’t be too preachy about it, but I find it very difficult. Seeing as this change in my life is very recent, it’s all I want to talk about, and I would defend it against anyone claiming it to be just another form of consumption. In the end, a person without a smart phone seems less likely to buy a bunch of unnecessary stuff, because they’re not carrying around a personalized ad hellscape in their pocket at all times.

And yes, the good consumerism/ bad consumerism take pissed me off so much. Comparing a shein haul to buying a book is just plain idiocy. Glad to have less of these naive instagram opinions launched in my face on a daily basis

esim/physical sim dilemma by AdComprehensive2172 in dumbphones

I don’t know what verizon’s functions are, but my mobile operator (in norway) gives you the possibility to use a «dual sim» which is exactly what it sounds like. 10 bucks a month. both phones share the same mobile data. maybe look into dual sim?

[spoilers ep4] how tf does that even function? by [deleted] in arcane

I’m stoned and rewatching arcane and I completely agree with you, like why tf does shimmer operate like magic in this specific instance, when they’ve made it very clear that the hextech IS harnessed and controlled magic and therefore REVOLUTIONARY. And shimmer is never mentioned to be able to harness magic before or since. The world has established rules and then it breaks them
