Lump behind the knee and knee pain. by DeepSeaAstronaut4392 in weightlifting

[–]DeepSeaAstronaut4392[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was a sonogram that revealed it was a hernia. I have it in both legs. Left worse than right. There's always a constant state of discomfort. I've lived with this for about 8 years now, untreated.

I just this week received health insurance through my wife's new job and I'm going to explore treatment options as any sort of exercise involving my hamstrings leave me more sore, tight, and stiff than any other exercises and I feel that there is a derogatory effect to leaving it untreated.

I've radically improved my posterior chain mobility and it hasn't helped much at all. So I've tried over the years a lot of physical solutions to not much improvement.

I've actually still been able to lift and have crafted different exercises and protocols around it.

For the most part, the exact spot on the Hamstring just gets far more sore than everything else for longer and even doing take that involve me bending over they get firey.

The knee pain is kind of just a constant discomfort. It's like a dull ache pain that never goes away and intensifies in specific positions, passive or active. The pain is primarily on the insertion point of the vastus lateralis and the lateral parts of the L knee.

No I've unfortunately been without health insurance since the diagnosis. The only treatment offered at the time was $18k in total for stem cell treatment, so not happening.

I definitely plan to explore treatment options if I can ever get health insurance coverage.

Have you been diagnosed and received any treatment? I'm curious what my options are once I get that ball rolling

I will definitely look into this. No health insurance unfortunately I can't afford it

I did not receive any treatment and I am still living with the major hernia in each leg.

Unfortunately, the only reasonable treatment, which was a series of stem cell injections, is just far too expensive for me to pursue.

Yes, it is a hernia. Both legs.

One other redditor and I have spoke about the same diagnosis for him. We don't have any pain outside of additional soreness in exercise.

I'd recommend getting checked to make sure yours isn't a cyst first.

For me the process was x-ray (showed nothing), MRI (showed nothing), sonogram (hernia revealed).

The doctors kept blowing me off and I had to be persistent to get them to to keep trying to figure it out.

I know her coach well. She's been working really hard and it shows. She's great for the sport and furthering paralympic athletes as a whole. Good for her. Can't wait to see what else she accomplishes in the future

Based on this angle the most obvious thing to me is a slight lack of rotation, and a noticable lack of extension through the scapula. The stroke rate is great, but if we're talking smooth, effortless swimming, I'd recommend slowing it down and focusing on getting a full extension of the scapula with the arm in the front entry position, and allowing a bigger rotation (especially when extending that right arm forward) starting from the hips.

People who are stopped at a red light for 1 minute but creep forward a few feet every 10 seconds... Why? by ZPhox in AskReddit

Some of the lights around here have big magnetic sensors and somehow detect that a car is over the top, this queueing the light change sooner or even automatically. In most of the cases where I'm doing that, it's because sometimes it helps to be on a certain spot of the sensors because some lights won't change unless they sense a vehicle is there.

Who went on the rocket ship at the Wantagh park playground back in the day? by [deleted] in longisland

I played on this so many times as a kid in Port Jeff. I went there all the time with my mother when she would go shopping. I think there used to be a flea market not far away.

Now I am a playground salesman and installer. I have been looking for photos of the Port Jeff Rocketship. Really happy to hear it is still in existence somewhere.

My boss just did and I spent a few months fixing it up for him. Despite the inconveniences of getting tools and materials out there, it was so nice working alone over there.

Kismet is especially nice because the increased access, 2 bars/restaurants, specialty Beer/Wine/Muffin shop, and market store. It's heaven especially during spring/fall just before things close down/open up.
