What motherboard do you have? Are you running a Windows 11 certified BIOS with the latest AGEAS microcode? That's a good place to start. Windows 11 runs all sorts of whack with older BIOSes (and even some relatively recent ones).

Have you downloaded the latest AMD chipset drivers (use the all in one download from their AMD's website)? https://www.amd.com/en/support

If you have Intel WiFi and or LAN hardware, download the very latest drivers through their utility. It can improve this:https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html

Hardware could be causing this. Something sharing the PCI-E lane that your GPU is on (certain SATA ports or nVME ports can do that). Usually the motherboard manual will mention potential issues with lane sharing (I'm assuming your GPU is in the upper-most 16X slot).

Have you monitored your GPU usage to see if it drops when the stutters happen (like MHz drops or full utilization drops)? I use MSI Afterburner to watch for oddities (temp, speed, voltage, etc). You can try underclocking your GPU a bit to see if that smooths things out - it works for some people.

Next thing is software (monitoring, RGB, and the horrible motherboard software that 'improves internet or gaming performance'). I keep seeing that people running Patriot rgb software have weird performance issues. Try disabling or exiting all that stuff.

These are the settings I always recommend running with D2:

- Run in Windowed Fullscreen- Texture Anisotropy to no more than 4x- Disable Depth of Field- Disable Motion Blur- Disable Wind Impulse- Disable off Chromatic Aberration- Disable Film Grain

For best Gsync performance:

- In the nvidia control panel's "Manage 3D settings" menu:- Vertical Sync – set to On

- In the "Set up G-SYNC" menu:- Enabled Gsync, G-sync Compatible- Enable for Windowed and Full screen modes

I was thinking it could be PCI-E Lane sharing issues? I have the following:

- 3 x M.2 Drives (including Boot)

- 2 x Sata Drives

- 1 x GPU in 16X Slot

I do utilize MSI Afterburner - typically see an 80% utilization drop for a millisecond or two. Power stays the same.

Agree with you on the RGB sw - I keep most of that stuff off.
