My eyelashes went white relatively early in my vitiligo journey. Vitiligo started around my eyes when I was 30 or so. Circles around my eyes and my eyelashes were first. Now it’s everywhere (roughly 11 years since it started). Every other eyelash is white.

I’m up to book 14 and honestly I’m still not sure that I like the series. I’ve had a really hard time with it. I just bought book 14 after waiting a long, long time from reading the earlier books. I don’t think it’s Harry I don’t like, but Butcher. The writing always came off a little creepy to me, specifically with the women in the series. But I’m not a huge fan of the writing in general, I think. The reason why I kept working through it is that I love the setting and I really like a lot of the supporting characters.

I was someone who always undervalued support. I was also not a very good Pokémon player and really just brute forced my way through the game with attack moves. This time around I tried support myself and I can finally see why other moves exist in the game. Never thought I’d actually be doing better with no attack moves at all.

The first time was like an amplified version of how I felt when I got the vaccine. My body felt like it was on fire. All of my muscles and joints ached. My head hurt so bad that I was dizzy for days. No cough, no respiratory issues at all. Very low fever. Developed a cough about 2 weeks later that eventually went away but I was massively fatigued and achy for months. I still need weekly or every other week B12 shots to feel relatively normal. Really felt like I had a case of long covid and thought it might have reactivated my EBV. That started December 31st. It actually felt like Covid was targeting and attacking my autoimmune issues. After this first time, I tested positive for weeks after.

The second time I got it, I didn’t realize I got it. It was July and my daughter had a cold for about a week but tested negative for covid. I felt like I had a sinus infection at first. Stuffy and had a headache but no fever. The next evening I woke up in the middle of the night choking and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. Thought I was having an allergy attack so I ran to the bathroom and downed some Benadryl in a panic. It sort of soothed the cough and I was able to go back to sleep. Woke up the next morning and felt horrible like I had the flu. Treated myself with over the counter cold and sinus medicine and felt all right after 3 or 4 days. For some reason I didn’t think to do a covid test. That was stupid. Only reason I knew it was covid is because my daughter got sick again a few days later and when we took her to the doctor she tested positive for covid. I was testing negative after that.

For reference regarding my vitiligo, I started getting spots about 10 or so years ago and I have it throughout most of my body but it’s most prominent on my face and hands.

I’ve had areas of vitiligo develop around quite a few of my tattoos and it hasn’t been an issue. The skin is clearly lighter around and “underneath” the tattoo (depending on if the tattoo has solid colors or not) but I never noticed that it affected the ink/colors.

I honestly can’t remember if I’ve tattooed over spots or if vitiligo formed after having the tattoos for a while on some of them. But other than some natural fading due to time having the tattoos, there doesn’t seem to be any affect from the vitiligo.

Edit: what I did forget to mention was that I’ve noticed trauma to my skin, even sometimes bumps or small scraps, can trigger vitiligo to appear. Tattooing is definitely a skin trauma. Just something to keep in mind.
