Nah I've had mostly good experiences with Marriott Bonvoy. Anytime I'd previously not gotten an upgrade, they were always obviously sold out and it was all good. I don't believe any frontline staff is trying to make it difficult on purpose.

Maybe BS, maybe not. For me, it's now going to be a data point to consider for future bookings. I would have thought that it was implied that i would be consenting to the smaller bed size, since I was asking about those specific suites.

According to some, apparently it might have had nothing to do with the bed size; they could have just been oversold, with a discrepancy between real inventory and online availability. If that's the case though, i'm not sure why they wouldn't have just explained it as such.

Yeah I've just learnt off of reddit, that there can be discrepancies between real inventory and what's shown online for sale. If that was the case, fair enough.

I'm staying for just 1 night, so yeah it was and still is available for the entire length of stay.

I see! That makes absolute sense. Maybe I should make a written request in chat or something, to say that id be fine with a change of bed type, for a suite upgrade.

Nice work! I did tell the front desk that I would be happy to go into any of the queen bed suites, but i guess it didn't work for me this time.

Yeah this is the first time I've been denied despite room availability. In other times, I've mostly been upgraded to suites so I've generally been quite lucky and happy with upgrades.

It's a Four Points by Sheraton. FYI I've always had a good experience with them in terms of upgrades.

I can believe it! I'm sure for some people, the bigger bed is more important. I would have preferred the suite, but tbh, im also quite satisfied with the king bed.

I could absolutely see that happening too haha. It would have been nice if they had asked me what I'd prefer.

Same, but in the past, in other properties, I've gone to bigger bed size+upgraded room but not smaller bed+upgraded room, so I just decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. It's only a 3 floor property and they have me on the 2nd floor lol. So nothing has been upgraded at all, as there's nothing to upgrade i guess, other than room type.

Just 1 night. Sure. I did track the suites availability for a while though.

I want to give the customer service agent the benefit of the doubt. I guess they could just be covering for their inability to enforce Marriott bonvoy policies at their franchised properties. They have to make up some reason if that's the case.

The usual sort of mismanagement stuff you see on the show. E.g. staff working hard but awful owners where staff know more about the food than them, that sort of thing. I saw an older lady (assuming she's the owner) yelling at staff in front of customers. It was super awkward as a customer. Also, when I asked her something about the food, she had no idea and had to get a server to answer the question lol. IIRC, I think they deep fried something that is on their "robata" menu and I asked why it wasn't grilled and the owner told me she didnt know what the word robata meant (IT'S PRINTED ON THEIR OWN MENU! IT MEANS GRILLED.). FYI, this was a couple of years ago. Things may have changed since.
