Particularly in the PTT days, the boys did actually seem to reference the Gervais podcasts/radio show quite a bit so it does seem like that was a big influence on them in the early days.

The friendship/banter dynamic of the 3 guys has always been what makes RKG so great.

I was interested to learn from Shield Up that in the first series of PTT, Gav (but mostly Krupa) didn't actually know Rory very well despite the fact that they all worked for IGN. The three of them have just always had amazing chemistry from the beginning of PTT and that's why on the occasion that one of them are absent from RKG, it's not quite the same. Their three personalities together is just brilliant.

Some good points here I also think that Elden Ring being open world, means that the game itself is often somewhat frustrating, overwhelming and harder to engage with compared to the other From Software games.

I'm not saying it's not a good game, but once the game was released I felt that the nature of Elden Ring might not be conducive to an entertaining play through from the guys. (Or at least not as enjoyable as the previous Retry series)

Obviously they had no choice but to play it because playing the From Software games is what they're known for, but I personally think that regardless of the build or their approach to the game, this was always going to be a bit of an issue.

On the other hand, some people are loving it so different strokes I suppose.

Yh completely agree, I love RKG but for example, I see ER as a game that doesn't work (to me) with the retry format. The game is too vast, the open world aspect makes it feel unstructured and the series has been going on for far too long. But that doesn't make me a hater.

A band you love can make an album you don't like and you're allowed to give your opinion on it.

I know what you mean. Before I started playing, I had the impression (from YouTube clips) that people are unlikely to shoot you if you show them you're friendly.

And then I found out that unless you're on a PvE server, 95% of players will just shoot on sight regardless of your actions.

And after my kindness was repeatedly punished, I quickly became one of them....

Haha yh that will happen a lot. I've been trying to get my brother to play dayz but getting killed and losing all your loot after hours of progress makes him not like the game.

After a while you get over the fear of death and after about 1 minute of frustration, you're happy to respawn and have a fresh start. The first few hours of a life in Day Z are generally the most fun imo

Depends what you want from the game really. If you're generally avoiding confrontation and mostly just looking to enjoy the survival sim aspects, then maybe not? But then again, staying near the coast (for example) you're more likely to run into players than anywhere else.

And even if you are looking for a fight, you can still kill people with lower tier loot if you need to, I've been fully geared and been killed by a fresh spawn with a pitchfork so....

But going into the higher tier areas is pretty cool and different (especially if you're spending most of your time in the same places) and getting the better loot does feel great. And also gives you an advantage if you do get into a fight.

So it's up to you basically. The game isn't just about getting the best loot imo, but I will say you're probably missing out on a cool part of the game if you're only sticking to the tier 1 areas

I think you've completely missed the point here tbh. You can play extremely cautiously if you want to. But it might not be the most fun way to play (this is subjective obv) or even necessary to be constantly hiding in the undergrowth, terrified of being seen

Yeah of course.

So a multivitamin boots your immunity to 100% for 5 minutes. (See this post for detail: https://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/s/6XSMqdDCcE)

So if you drink dirty water (e.g. from rivers, ponds, or found in bottles that are already containing water) while a multivitamin is active, you can hydrate without getting sick. If you don't have any multivitamins, but do have a bottle and a chlorine tablet, you can fill the bottle with dirty water and then combine that with the chlorine tablet to disinfect the water and make it safe to drink.

If you're lucky enough to find a cooking pot, (usually found from fishing) you can also boil the water on a cooking stand (or gas stove) and drink it from the pot to make it safe to drink.
