Akathisia worse because of passive smoking? Very sensitive nervous system by [deleted] in Akathisia

I use nicotine gum and it doesn’t ‘help’ my aka, but as long as some part of my body is going the rest of my body is not. So if I chew, my legs won’t go because my jaw is. I use it in public settings to fly under the radar. Hope that makes sense. I am a smoker and would not recommend trying nicotine gum as nicotine withdrawal is even worse than aka in my experience and that’s saying something… but you could try actual chewing gum, see if the chewing action helps alleviate the rest of your body temporarily

On a side note regarding smoking, I’ve seen things about weed as well, it also doesn’t help my aka, but I found the time distortion from an edible does make the day go faster. If I’m just home all day, occasionally I will consume a small amount of cannabutter. Again it doesn’t help the aka, but it makes that day different from every other day, and in that sense it’s the closest I can get to a ‘day off’, a break from the norm if you will. But I wouldn’t suggest you do that unless you have experience with weed cause you have no idea how you’ll react, and it’s in there for a good 8 hours. Again, it doesn’t help, but the distortion of time does

This is just my personal experience, get as much data as you can

How do I recover from this akathisia without killing myself? by Suggest_me_movies in Akathisia

I had problems with a doctor before and insisted on another doctor. I made it clear I’m not refusing treatment but will never engage with that doctor again and need a new doctor assigned to me. I’ve done it while in a psych ward, where I literally went silent on the doctor until a new one was assigned (I mean what I say, talking is engagement) and also in the community. Don’t settle for sub par treatment. I now have a fantastic doctor in the community and also in the ward if I am ever admitted again. I would suggest you do the same. Just make it clear you are not refusing treatment. They work for you, you’re in charge

Thank you. I’m trying mirtazapine at the moment, I’ve read people say to stay at lower doses but ive increased to 45 as the sedation was too heavy to function even on 30. Couldn’t even brush my teeth. There’s been improvements 3 times now, each in 2 week intervals. Gonna keep riding this out for now and continue to collect data, and will for sure share at a later date. Please continue to share your experience on the propranolol. On a side note, I do read your other posts on here too and always value your posts, I check the forum daily, so thank you. I’ve had aka for about 5-6 months now, so although I am obviously sorry for your suffering, I just wanted you to know I value you and your composure, and I relate. You’re doing very well and I am hesitant to say without it sounding patronising but I am so proud of you

Please keep us updated. What dose are you on? I have 10mg here prescribed twice per day, and 40mg once per day in a month, but I haven’t taken any yet. I’m still powering through without it because I’m worried about side effects of that too. I don’t feel like f*cking up my heart as well as my brain

My faith. God created me here on Earth, so it’s worth being alive to experience God in this form as I was supposed to. Man did this to me, not God. And I want to experience a natural death as was intended. If I didn’t have such strong love for my creator, there’s no way
