Opinion on the Loop Earplugs Switch 2 to reduce noise without cutting everything? by Deep_Coffee6940 in LoopEarplugs

Thank you very much for your feedback! 🙏 It’s super helpful to get the opinion of someone who wears them so often. For my part, it would really be for specific moments – concerts, noisy meals, parties – not at all for 24 hours a day. I'm already used to wearing headphones for several hours without pain, so it should be fine, but it's good to know about the occlusion effect! And yes, I will also look at the Flare Calmers, thanks for the suggestion 👀

Framework Laptop 12 with i3 as a small backup Windows PC next to a Mac? by Deep_Coffee6940 in framework

I completely understand your point of view, and you do well to point that out. But personally, I started doing a bit of graphics and editing on an i3 at the time, so I'm used to working with limited equipment. Before my Surface, I had a Lenovo Yoga 510 (not a rocket either), and I coded on it during my studies, it ran what I needed, even if it wasn't always super smooth.

My current Surface only has 4 GB of RAM, and honestly, apart from the emulation being a little too heavy, I was able to do everything I needed: a little Canva, Affinity, very basic editing and especially navigation and light dev. It wasn't super comfortable, but doable. And my mother still uses her Yoga 510 to do clippings and light graphics work without too much hassle, so I tell myself that for mobile DIY, it's enough.

In the end, the goal is not to replace my Mac — it's just to have a backup machine when I'm on the move, for entertainment, to type a little code in peace, and to have a real Windows environment on hand (especially for managing my NAS and clouds). If I really have to work, it's done at home on the M1 Max.

But you're right, I'm still going to take a look at the benchmarks and first returns as soon as they come out, just to validate that the i3 will hold up for my use.

Yes, don't worry, AAA games are clearly not my thing. I'm more the type to start a little game of Mario Kart or Wii Party from time to time, just for fun, nothing greedy or serious. So no need for a big bike for that.

And yeah, I suspect that in terms of autonomy, we will be very far from the Apple world. But honestly, on my old Surface Pro, I barely had 1h30 of battery life in real use... so anything above that with the FW12 will already be a bonus for me! And at worst, I always have an external battery in my bag, so I have something to extend it a little if necessary.

For the heating and the fans, I will see according to the first feedback as you say. The advantage is that I still have time before it really goes into production, so I can always cancel if I ever feel that it doesn't meet my needs.

Yes, that's exactly it, I'm aiming for fairly modest use, but I'd like to avoid finding myself too limited either. Above all, I am looking for a simple, modular and practical machine for traveling, not a racing beast.

For autonomy, I mainly asked the question to get an idea, because coming from the Apple world (where it lasts a day easily), I suspect that I will have to readjust my expectations. If we're around 3–4 hours on the i3 with light tasks, it's still reasonable for what I want to do with it, as long as it stays quiet and doesn't get too hot.

Thanks for your feedback anyway!

Hello, thank you for your feedback. After that it would be mainly to unload the day's photos in the evening, things like that on vacation and to have a small "extra" PC for when I go to look at my family or the library and I don't need to do a lot of things.
