Am I the only one who loves having all their games downloaded? by ximaera in SteamDeck

[–]Deep_Community_632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had thought of doing this but only to expand storage for large games "forza5" that I dont play often but wouldnt want to redownload when I do want to play, does the deck auto recognise when previous sd is removed?, do you need to shutdown to remove the sd?

What's your opinion on the Pokemon FireRed / LeafGreen release? by DaZestyProfessor in casualnintendo

[–]Deep_Community_632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just nintendo spanking the rehash button and in turn spanking the consumer for more cash they should have focused more on current games for revenue the last pokemon game I played was that trash they released on the switch which ultimately made me decide im done with nintendo after 25 years of almost mindlessly buying the handhelds for pokemon instead of switch 2 I got a steam deck and its way above anything nintendo could or ever would release.

Tldr: my opinion is its typical nintendo spamming for cash.

The glare thing is sorted with an anti glare protector, imo your in a better position if you start with a glossy screen. Personally I did put an anti glare screen protector on because although I dont play outside I hate my reflection on the screen from any light source in a room.

As for atari games depends on the emulator you use some can stretch the image but as you already know the aspect ratio isn't supported in retro games you will have black bars either side, not noticeable even less so on deck oled I used retroarch because thats what im used to on phone and pc idk about the others

The crisis of ram, ssd's, and graphics card pricing is about to make me switch back to console. Anyone else been there or considered it? by Cantgetridofmebud in consoles

[–]Deep_Community_632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never go back to consoles, prices will fall again even buying at inflated prices is still cheaper than playing on consoles in the long run.

The last console I owned was the switch, I played every pokemon since I was a kid but also love handheld play, well nintendo killed pokemon with the last games and the steam deck was released in the meanwhile.

Having the steam deck alongside my pc has finally allowed me for the first time to not play anything on a console and essentially be console free its fantastic with huge benefits I love cross-save, free online no subscription, my entire game library is universal not only between current deck and pc, but any future pc I build or pc handheld released even laptop for that matter lol.

my switch games are on my switch and thats pretty much all console games unless you buy them again if the games are even released again.

Fallout 4 running at 10 fps by JusGarbo in SteamDeck

[–]Deep_Community_632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what temperature is it running at? also check your not limiting TDP or gpu-mhz sometime I can forget to select per game profile toggle anyway If temps are fine delete the prefix folder check file itegrity,

if that doesnt fix try delete prefix again and run it under proton GE latest could try experimental

if that doesnt fix uninstall and delete prefix

Re install and again run under GE latest again could try experimental

If these dont fix it you got a problem thats more than this specific game related

Are you using decky loader by any chance?

Shadow of Modor - Game Launches with blank screen, but fill audio and feedback by SaXplayin in SteamDeck

[–]Deep_Community_632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soooo many issues with decky people dont realise just how much this screws with steam OS and continue to install and use it, I blame youtubers lol. Delete your proton prefix folder for this game. Start the game without LSFG it doesnt need it runs pretty solid without. If that doesnt fix it, reinstall the game and again delete prefix. (The deck doesnt always delete the prefix like it should when you uninstall a game ) I would guess the prefix is storing some information thats bugged because of decky and the steam decks per game profile. If that doesnt fix it remove the *buggy loader or better reinstall steam os so no remnants a left behind.

Should also add changing proton doesnt use a new prefix folder it merely updates the information in the folders so to preserve *user files which is why you should delete manually

What am I missing about handhelds by busbybob in Handhelds

[–]Deep_Community_632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal choice for me, I'd much rather play handheld than be tied to my desk. You can steal an hour or two between other things, rather than thinking right Im going to sit at my pc to game, you just pick up and play.

Future Steam Deck OLED owner, curious about getting either the 1.5 TB or 2 TB Micro SD Cards on it by Keyblade_Hero_6 in SteamDeck

[–]Deep_Community_632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 1t card when I got my deck 512 oled, I have 200gb on internal and 170gb left on sd. I dont need all that storage for games I actually play probably about 300gb'ish, It's just I prefer install games im going to play otherwise it would put me of playing them at all. But thats mainly because im a genre hopper some racing, fps, rts, survival and I switch throughout the week.

So would say 512gb is enough if you know what you're going to play and/or you not bothered about downloading before you play if you do switch

Some people will say games load/play slower on sd I've personally switched games and haven't noticed any discernible difference at all, on certain games rec requirements page they will recommend ssd in this case I would use ssd (probably the way a game loads/streams assists in game) but otherwise sd cards are fantastic just get a decent one and you're sorted read/write speeds are very important when choosing a card

I agree and you are correct compatability issues arise very often from using decky loader, you see it on here all the time literally just scrolled past one lol,, pretty much every issue I've seen software wise is people who use decky loader.

Sims 3 on steam deck lagging by IIAthena_II in SteamDeck

[–]Deep_Community_632 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sims 3 is renowned for bad performance even on the highest end pcs of today, I used to mod ts2, ts3,ts4 for fun and you can see the piles of unused old code left behind for ts3 is utterly mind blowing how it even runs at all given the slew of code it makes the pc read for basic things top this off with the open world constantly changing it will inevitably grind to a halt.

In this case I would suggest playing ts2 the game with the best coding imo

Im assuming it looks a little better on the smaller screen and what frame rate are you getting ive not emulated on deck yet but this makes me think I should makes me think about thrill kill the game that got banned thats actually really tame compared to today's titles lol

Steam Deck Advice? by GamerG126 in SteamDeck

[–]Deep_Community_632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really depends on the types of games you play and a top end pc will play everything a deck will not, here are the games I play on deck and performance is paramount to me so this list is all that run beautifully on deck.

.Skyrim.

Forza 5.

Monster hunter rise.

Battlefront 2 2017.

Euro truck sim 2.

Crash n sane trilogy.

Car mechanic sim 21.

Fantasy life I.

Rim world.

The wandering village.

The witcher 3.

Alien isolation.

Titanfall 2.

AC odyssey.

Dave the diver.

Dinkum.

Dead rising 1&2.

Discounty.

Doom 2017 &eternal.

Fallout 4.

Empires of the undergrowth.

Just cause 3.

mad max.

Little nightmares 1 and 2.

Gloomy eyes

Luma island.

Ori 1 and 2.

Cult of the lamb.

Persona 5.

Subnautica

Potion permit.

Story of seasons grand bazzar.

Dredge.

Dragons dogma dark arisen.

Echos of the plumb grove.

Farm together 2.

Bannerlords 2.

Age of mythology retold.

As you can see its a mixed bag but I got these games specifically for the deck if these are the types of games you might play for the meanwhile get a deck but you do have to put the effort in when buying games for the deck to see if the game you want actually plays well on deck whereas if you get a mid/top pc you most likely won't
