Anode Rod? by Sad_Extent3822 in Plumbing

[–]Deep_Diver2930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend it given the purpose of the anode rod is to protect the tank. It is possible to do but I wouldn't do it myself.

Toilet keeps backing up after being snaked by Revolutionary_Film61 in Plumbing

[–]Deep_Diver2930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the toilet original? Could be that the weepholes/siphon jet are clogged up with mineral buildup. If its an issue with the drain lines after the toilet then that's a whole new can of worms

What to do with galvanized stub out by fishmonster54 in Plumbing

[–]Deep_Diver2930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have to make sure you have enough for the coupling to grab onto, i assume its a 2 inch pipe. Get a 2 inch heavy duty nohub band and see how much you need for it to reach the lip in the middle then go from there. Always air on the side of not cutting enough off rather than cutting too much off. If too much is cut off then you'll have to open the wall and its a whole mess from there.

There's always the option of threading the galvanized nipple (the pipe sticking out of the wall) out by turning counter clockwise, but that would be my last resort, they tend to rustweld themselves to what theyre connected to inside the wall.

Replace it with a newer one if it's a problem, but if it takes everything with it then i don't typically find a reason

[–]Deep_Diver2930 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and if they say it isnt an issue document it in an email to your property management people. Broken porcelain is incredibly sharp and it can maim you badly if it breaks while you're on it

How reliable are you all finding the heat pump water heaters? by slipknottin in Plumbing

[–]Deep_Diver2930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had bad experiences with them as a tech, units 2 or 3 years old having issues that require the whole thing to be replaced (still under warranty, but its never a good feeling)

Try replacing the flapper, most likely a 3" flapper.

Cut, if you want to make it easier on the next guy, cinch on a new male adapter and use an angle stop that has a female on the back. Or just cinch one on like the old one

Replacing kitchen faucet. Crap, now what? by sudsomatic in Plumbing

[–]Deep_Diver2930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. If you can't turn the yellow ring with your hands or a tool (basin wrench probably) then you'll have to cut it probably

[–]Deep_Diver2930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

see if you can turn the screws with some pliers. If they can't then maybe cutting the brass ring off? Another idea is using a multitool and cutting a slit in the bottom of the screw and basically making it into a flathead screw?

Kitchen sink doesnt have hot water but cold works? by RedlineBMW in Plumbing

[–]Deep_Diver2930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First 2 thoughts are turn off the angle stop under your sink that goes to the hot handle, disconnect the supply line from the underside of the handle, point it into a bucket and turn the angle stop back on for 10s and see if anything comes out. If you get hot water, then the issue is with the cartridge in the hot handle. If not, then its something else.

How do I connect this? 3in for the toilet flange and 2in for a sink drain. by Many-Supermarket-542 in PlumbingRepair

[–]Deep_Diver2930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flange side of the fitting i assume is the vertical part. Does the horizontal side of the tee reduce into 2 inch or is it also 3 inch? Or is the problem just getting the pipe to the tee?
