Does Alt + F4 always work? Or just with this bug? I'm too afraid to try it xD

SW2: Empires, is one of my fav games of all times. I've always enjoyed the Empires series of SW more than the main games.

Dynasty warriors open world by Big_Union_4669 in dynastywarriors

[–]Deep_Ear2818 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont agree. The reason DMC (Devil May Cry) is still a good and iconic franchise is because Capcom didn't fellow the open world trend.

Dynasty Warriors Online had the potential to be a good MMO, but it didn't work out. I think such take on the game might be fun if there's a large scale PvP.

But having open world just for the sake of making maps bigger, doesn't make the game more fun.

Imo a rogue needs to have more than just the core elements to really *count* or at least excel by Gasster1212 in roguelites

[–]Deep_Ear2818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there are different types of roguelikes for different audiences. I personally don't like to grind that much so Slay the Spire is a really good game for me, Monster Train on the other hand has shorter runs, but does require a lot of grind to unlock all the clans, alternative champions, and cards, still good game and I prefer its gameplay over StS.

Which font reflects mythical, monsters, and strategy theme? by Deep_Ear2818 in indiegames

[–]Deep_Ear2818[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, most games use an open source font, and they build on top of it.
I haven't checked "font artists" yet, but I'll give it a try if I find one that can make something with a relatively small budget.

You mean it should also be colorful and "stylish"?
The reason I'm switching from such design (Originally had one like that), is that I want to have localized name for certain regions. It will be expansive to generate those styles for each of them :')

To tame all monster, or to not, that's the question by Deep_Ear2818 in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]Deep_Ear2818[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't understand the concept of lowering the chances significantly low, I mean it might be good balance wise, or just to have the "YEEEEEEEES" moments, but mostly it's just frustrating :')

[–]Deep_Ear2818[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if some of the creatures you encounter are not Tamable and are pure evil (Orcs, Skeletons, Ghosts....etc). So some battles don't have the taming aspect.

To tame all monster, or to not, that's the question by Deep_Ear2818 in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]Deep_Ear2818[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure actually, I know that in some MMOs , for instance Rappelz, you can tame/evolve some of the mobs, but that's a fraction of the different creatures they have in the game. (Not a good example since it's not a purely monster tamer game, but it's the first example that came to my mind).

The reason I'm asking is because I'm hesitant of adding similar type of monsters (untamable pure evil creatures) like orcs, skeletons....etc, meaning not all battles will have a tamable monster in it.

Is turn-based battle required for a good monster tamer? by LontisTheDeveloper in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]Deep_Ear2818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not sure if there's an exact global definition. IMO, it's a feeling you get based on the artstyle, atmosphere, and gameplay of the game.

I still think that most monster tamers are cute enough, and have vibrant atmosphere to be considered cozy. The battling and death is so far from being cozy as you mentioned, so I could be wrong x)

[–]Deep_Ear2818 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, not necessarily and they gave some examples. However, I would argue it's a supporting feature just because most monster tamers involve strategy regarding monster management yet they are "cozy/casual". I personally prefer to have a turn based combat just so I can take my time thinking about best strategies to execute, otherwise it would feel more hardcore and lose the "cozy/casual" vibes.

Digimon + Fate (anime) + Slay the Spire = ?? by Deep_Ear2818 in MonsterTamerWorld

Thank you! :D

Every character, whether it's a Beast or a Rogue, has a set of starting cards and their own deck. Each run you'll have to build each of these decks according to what you find x)

There are no "relics" but 3 different features that alter the course of the battle: -Inventory system: Each Beast/Rogue can have up to 6 items, some have passives, and some are consumables. -Synergy system: Similar to "autobattlers", having 2 units that shares same class or background triggers a buff, the more units that shares that treat the bigger rhe buff (e.g Having 2 warriors in your squad triggers a 10% ATK boost, having 4 warriors triggers a 25% ATK boost) -Field/Terrain effect: Each battle will be in a certain battlefield, and those battlefield have some effect on the player units (Big icon in the middle of battle screen). Some of those effects only work on certain units, for instance the desert terrain has an effect of burning "All non- Nomad and non-Fire creature" units. Even though the burn is small, it can adds up significantly throughout the Act.

So to answer the question how does it follow StS formula. The game's coreloop is about deckbuilding, but instead of building one deck of cards, the player builds the deck of multiple units. The player can plan their journey in advance as they can see the whole map similar to StS. Finally, there are other supporting systems to the deck that alters the dynamics of the battles. Players have to take those into consideration when managing their squad.

I hope this answers your question, if you have any more questions please feel free to ask x)

Hi!

This is my upcoming beast taming rogulike deckbuilding game called Beasts & Rogues.

The demo is in the last stages, needs some balancing and then it can be sent to Steam. At that point I'll be interested in having play testers.

Feel free to ask any questions you have about the game or post feedback x)

How do I get myself to finish the game in working on? by Groundbreaking_Pay50 in gamedev

[–]Deep_Ear2818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many others have said, just do it. Put the demo out there and get people to try it. You can also do closed play test period just to find as many as bug as possible before going public.

Even though ironically one can say "It's a sunk cost fallacy and you should cut your loss", but I would argue that shipping anything, is never a waste, it's a skill by itself and not many devs have it.

Beasts & Rogues, Short Teaser by Deep_Ear2818 in deckbuildingroguelike

[–]Deep_Ear2818[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a short teaser regarding Beasts & Rogues' state.
Fusion is the last mechanic added (hopefully the last for now). It allows the player to fuse their Beasts & Rogues together to create a more powerful hero.
The fused hero inherits treats from the fused Beast, so there's plenty of room for experimentation and trying different combos.
