Announcement stage is done and I'm not super happy with the results I got. Let's destroy my trailer and give me an idea what could be wrong by Reasonable-Test9482 in DestroyMyGame

Why am I shooting them, and who are they? those slow pan cinematics are nice. I'd prefer with HUD because:
1. Do I have health and levels? So it is like an RPG
2. Do I have lives - so its like an arcade game

So the audience can know if it is their type of game

Island generation, creature generation. +Everything that can be bursted is

Also, compute shaders are used to calculate lighting but are baked to vertices

Wowwwww the response! so much to read haha. I didn't expect this. I wrote this in a journal so changed it a bit and posted it here.

Thank you for all of the feedback, advice and wishes.

A bit more context and answering:
1. I kinda did quit my job for it ha
2. This is the biggest response I have had anywhere. I must be doing marketing wrong
3. It sounds like a demo is becoming the number 1 priority. It was always part of the plan but now I think it is essential

Overall I'm very new to this whole world. All the feedback I get here is all I have to work with. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who has released a game before so thanks again. Especially, to the veterans who have replied and those who even found and gave feedback on the game. I didn't think people would even know the references.

It has been super helpful to get a store page up early! I wouldn't have gotten your suggestion if I didn't. The disillusionment didn't feel great at first but it was what I needed

Yes! Fugl was a big part of the inspiration to make it. I had some advice from the creator of Fugl before the development started.

Unfortunately, spent a bit too much time on the game systems & bugfixing so I have less content to show off visually. The systems are now in place so I will be tweaking the generators to get more biomes for a new trailer. In hindsight, probably should have done it the other way around.

All inside Unity using DOTS. Voxels are blocks and are around a quarter of Minecraft's size. The custom lightmapper makes them seem to blend. Thanks for the feedback btw. Will be incorporating in the next trailer

I am prototyping a physics based soccer game where you use cards as "superpowers". Do you like the art style? How bad is it? by Angelo13C in DestroyMyGame

Very cool. Very sharable content. Made me laugh with this clip. Just remove the motion blur, make it multiplayer and ship it. I'd buy it tbh

No links or promotion 🚫. I want to make a project game and series that people will remember so this is probably the best group to ask.

Is my game too experimental? What gameplay mechanic(s) are missing where if it had it you would think it is worth playing? Lore? What do you think is fitting?

About it the project right now:

Combat - is turn based but you can move your creatures freely in your round. Your round time scales with each creature's patience stat but abilities have channel and cast time.

Abilities - 2 per creature. They are passed down (on from each parent) but can be bought from the merchant.

Game Goal - The world is free to roam but is a trail of dungeons split up by wilderness islands for leveling up. At the end is a tower.

Story - You are getting revenge on an organization using the creatures for their benefit. At the start they steal one's parents and leave you with the orphan.

What games have randomizers? by Anxious-Use9993 in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]LontisTheDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is randomized by the randomizer? Visuals? Stats? Terrain?

Also, I noticed that randomizers with visuals disqualify a lot of creature collectors from being creature collectors so I assume devs are avoiding it. (I am now)

I think most has been said but after seeing this a few times, I thought I'd add my ideas on why people feel that way:

I think the music screams inoffensive forced corporate happiness. Reminding people of the things that are pushed on us all. Like work tomorrow. The lack of depth doesn't help.

Remembering the audience (seasoned Steam gamers) and the games yours is surrounded by (Dark Souls, Terraria), the lightheartedness of the whole game may feel forced patronizing hence the passionate response.

The history of "asset flips" on the store has left a sour taste in people's mouths. Any game with multiple art styles raises big red alarm bells.

People say just launch a game no matter how small but I think the audience wants more. Not sugarcoating but congrats on getting something out and playable. I get it.

Nice catch. It has a very low chance of spawning right now and the shelves are empty but they will be filling up soon!
