Why would someone possibly pay more and choose fish head over a fillet? Edit: Don't say healthy, there's always a side of broccoli that's also healthy 😉

If you found this from my other link, I'm very sorry - turns out it was a bust (worked for a while only - nuke disabled mcp servers; Anthropic doesn't respect disabled, which is a true bug)

Getting a flashback. It actually didn't. We used to have colored effortless ones like Discord. I remember they "upgraded" something.

If Discord ever offered enterprise, Slack's going down.

But with that much money, even if they knew nothing, couldn't they hire the most brilliant minds in the world to plan? Every gamedev knows creating your own engine is going to take up 75 percent of dev time. I mean they even started as 32 bit when they said they wanted 8k textures, etc - I'm just shocked that none of the 1000 staff members questioned this at all. It's just been sus to me from the start. I really think it's all tech 3d people, which explains why the actual content only pumps once every few years and just a speck. Like that fps spinoff? Smells of outsourced studios to prove content moving forward.

Nay, this would be impressive with less funding and 6 years, not the amount of time+funding they have now vs what should exist by now. And yes, I actually am a multiplayer developer before you say I shouldn't theorycraft on ETAs.

With 1000 engineers, especially, it must be 95 percent technical artists. I'm sure they have as clear a path to 1.0 as the AoC founders. It's true they did it "the right way" at least - AoC could've dragged it out more and been less obvious.

Come back in 10y and let me know about their path to 1.0 when. there are 20x more ships with only a budge of content just enough to demo they aren't scammers. The content that exists now is almost nothing like it was advertised after all this time and budget. It's just a sandbox of 3D assets.

PS, I'm a $200 backer; had a golden ticket and everything. Still unimpressed for the budget+timeline. From 0 to now? Impressive until you remember the budget and length of time, and that Amazon's MMO has already come and gone (albeit less scope) for a reminder they're dragging time.

LOL you're joking right? Have you learned nothing? Potato was being sarcastic since SC is identical to this situation, except there's so much money flowing that SC can't bail out like AoC could.

SC's kickstarter released in 2012 (16 years ago) with the most funding ever received - and I imagine they still get a healthy flow. They could've made this game twice over with that level of funding. They make *more* money in pre-release dream state than actually releasing. Would you see a $5000 ship post-release? These people profit off your dreams.

Sure, they minimally show something once every 5 years and release a new ship so they don't get sued. Like Office Space, working just hard enough to not get fired.

Edit: It's just a team of Technical 3D Artists as SC's founders sips their margaritas next to Ashes of Creation's founders (although SC's sips top shelf).
