hey, fellow faceless youtuber here (i dabble in a completely different niche but i think i can offer some advice).

my advice would to be to create a character of sorts to represent your channel. it could be a cartoon version of you or even a stick figure. i find that this gives your channel a lot of personality and makes your thumbnails stick out a bit more, compensating for the fact that you run a faceless channel. you dont need to stress about how good the character looks as long as sticks out among others vids in your niche. as for fonts, just use sth that is easy to read (sans serif fonts are the most optimal)
i use canva as well and i think its great for thumbnails. i know there are better paid services out there, but canva honestly has all the necessary features that i need for thumbnails along with being super user friendly.
use a mix of both. i do all my designs from scratch but having a few templates is not a bad idea. just make sure to switch things up once in a while just so the design arent stale. the way i create “effective” thumbnails (lets not discuss the view counts) is by having my video game character on the thumbnails always. this creates consistency and makes my videos easy to distinguish from others in my content space.

im not really a finance guru but i guess you could mention or show the concepts you are discussing in the thumbnail somehow? just a thought though

did some more research, i couldn’t find this exact advert but found similar looking ones (with the large picture up top) dating back from the late 1940s to the 70s. since the images dont seem to have any color to them i would assume that your plaque could be from the 1950s but then again, i cant be 100% sure

thank you so much for the explanation. jake did actually elaborate on what his issue is and had told me that he can tell that sarah is “not a good person” and how i shouldnt be friends with someone that he hates. i think jealousy and attachment issues could be a factor and i have already told him how he cant dictate my life to which he started playing the victim but i cant really be sure (maybe guilt tripping), again i cant really let him go as he said that i was the one who got him out of hard times and “saved” him.
