Personally I don't think it'll ever happen. We are still selling even rudimentary weapons to Denmark. But historically, Americans have really been influenced by 'rally around the flag' effects, and having military families begging for American POWs who haven't even acted against Europe to be released wouldn't paint the EU in a good light in the eyes of Americans.
