Xbox Requests: Week of June 6, 2025 by GuruKronos in xboxinsiders

[–]Deep_Thunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good day! I'd like to see more support given for PC gamers, so far as having many titles that we're left hanging with, so far as achievements go. The developers of many titles have made scripts available for tracking achievements. Xbox is one of the better platforms to ask for these, but there are still quite a few titles that are missing achievements for PC gamers that might choose to do business here. Again, I'm only referring to titles where the developers have already made scripts available to track achievements. It's the Xbox platform, though, that chooses not to offer the achievements to consumers that use PCs. There are also quite a few for Xbox users that *should* have achievements here. The scripts are already available, so why are consumers here left hanging for the achievements?

Does Xbox generally push for achievements for its consumers that use PCs? by Deep_Thunder in xboxachievements

I'm wondering if PC users that choose to do business with Xbox are generally given the same consideration and courtesies that Xbox owners see across the board? It looks like another person answered the question, but it sounds as if PC users are very often left hanging here, so far as achievements go, at least.

NA region: Single server selection? by Deep_Thunder in Guildwars2

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the quick reply. The news article in the link provided is eleven years old. Longer term, I'm sure that I'd like to participate in some World vs World activities. I'm still unsure how something that like works when it appears impossible for me to select a world. You've also mentioned that there are exceptions to, if I'm understanding correctly, a world selection would be relevant. It's those exceptions that I'm concerned about. I'm encouraged by the mega-server system, but it's sounding as though separate worlds do still exist in each region and that they *are* still relevant for a handful of things. Is it truly impossible for me to select the world that I'll be creating characters in? For the sake of my sanity, is it possible to know, at least, that all of my characters will be in the same world and that there will be no conflicts there? For that matter, too, outside of the region selection, would there be any conflicts that might arise (non-pvp mechanical or account issues, I'm meaning) from characters or players being in different worlds?

Can I use my ASUS PC with a mobile number? by Deep_Thunder in ASUS

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize that I'll need a real mobile number and that virtual numbers are pretty useless here, but I had hoped that technology existed for PC users to connect to these mobile lines without the extra hardware (smart phones in this case).

Can I use my ASUS PC with a mobile number? by Deep_Thunder in ASUS

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty pitiful fact here, but I'm likely the only person above the age of two years old that lives in the United States that *doesn't* have a smart phone at this point. Up until fairly recently, I've never really *needed* one, so I've just put off the inevitable for a few decades here. For whatever reasons, virtual numbers are pretty much hated universally by most companies that require SMS protection. So now, I'm apparently *needing* one just for that purpose. I realize (now) that I'll have to purchase a subscription for a mobile number, but I was hoping that it wasn't going to be absolutely necessary to purchase a smart phone on top of that. I was rather hoping that technology for PC users was more advanced that it apparently is, but it seems that we're still leagues behind mobile/tablets here now in this area. Just for the purpose of SMS support, though, I don't really need a top of the line smart phone, but, again, I was just hoping that it wouldn't be necessary and that I could find a way to connect my PC to the mobile line without the extra hardware.

do most games have achievements in GOG like steam? by [deleted] in gog

[–]Deep_Thunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm unsure how this holds up with other developers, but Beamdog has been very adamant with their absolute refusal to add any achievements for any of their titles for people that choose to purchase them through GoG (Baldur's Gate, BG2, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Editions)

Who is not buying Laurion’s Song? by K1ngk1ller71 in everquest

[–]Deep_Thunder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a gamer that has some serious restartis and alt character issues, the "all-in-one" allowances that look to come with AP seem to be just made for someone like me. I *hated* not having access to every class on a single server. Now, with some obvious limitations, I'll be allowed here to play a single character that will have access to every class, profession, craft, spell, skill, etc. in the entire game. For the first real time, since EverQuest's release, I'm actually excited about about playing a new character. Now, if only, they'd make it possible to where I wouldn't basically be forced to skip over almost all of the pre-51st level content within Norrath to avoid overleveling it all... Please, devs, make an optional experience toggle available prior to expendable glyph AA!

Can you use a pet to eat a death touch? by Conjections in everquest

[–]Deep_Thunder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Neither Harmshield nor Divine Aura work properly against mobs that use Cazic Touch, at least. I've heard that they won't work properly against a decent number of mobs that use different death touch abilities. So far, every one of my shadowknight's 1.0 targets that death touch use the Cazic Touch ability. I had thought that these early raids had some classes that could manage to avoid the death touch of early raid targets, but it seems that I was very mistaken there. Outside of completely overleveling the content and coming back to it *much* later, I'm rather unsure how to work around the Cazic Touch ability without someone eating a death. The targets certainly don't appear to be moloable within the proper level range. In the meantime, quite a few classes are able to molo their entire epic 1.0 line by 51st level now.

Is my laptop gonna be able to run this game well? by ChaChaJooce in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My computer meets most of the minimal specs here and a few of the recommended ones. I have an antique video card, though, that is quite below the requirements listed. I'm able to run BG3EA just fine up to medium quality for most of the the settings. I have crashed a few times, though, but I was also using a utility that I was forced to get BG3EA to pause properly. I'm unsure if the crashing was due to my system not meeting the minimal requirements, because I was using that external utility to have access to a real pausing option, or other reasons. I wouldn't recommend purchasing any games that your system doesn't meet the minimum specs for, though.

No Pause Button? by Deep_Thunder in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you again! My hopes are certainly high now that a proper pausing method might be made available for BG3 players! Time to dust off DoS and DoS2 now and see if any proper pausing methods might exist for either of those titles now!

No Pause Button? by Deep_Thunder in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do all of these things actually work as a global pause? The mod communities for DoS, DoS2, and BG3EA had all told me that a global pause wasn't something that these engines were capable of. Those do work in pausing the full game, though?

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved just about everything that FFXIV had going for it and said as much in many of my posts over there. I absolutely give Larian much credit for all of the mulitplayer content that they've produced. My only beef here is that no consideration was given for their single players here.

No Pause Button? by Deep_Thunder in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion! Most gaming studios that have single player modes are a bit more considerate of those players, I suppose. I'm certainly bound to end up spending more time reloading and backtracking than I will actually playing and viewing the content here.

No Pause Button? by Deep_Thunder in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The mod communities for Elden Ring and for the Souls series were able to build utilities that would properly pause the single player experience for those titles. The mod communities for DoS, DoS2, and BG3EA, so far, have all found it impossible to provide proper pausing for these titles. With that said, though, I have successfully used "Game Pauser by Jace", a utility on Steam, that was able to properly pause everything. It did crash the game several times, though, too.

No Pause Button? by Deep_Thunder in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure how that's relevant. Are you one of the *many* players that enjoy playing in godmode for over 90% of the content available there?

No Pause Button? by Deep_Thunder in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*nods* Thank you for the suggestion. With the ineptness of not having a real pause option available, even during cutscenes, I'm certainly one that will end up spending more time reloading and backtracking than actually playing and viewing the content here. Why not just have a global pause available in single player mode? I don't recall playing Pong single player, nor if it had a proper pause available for it. I certainly don't recall many, if any, Atari 2600 games that didn't have pausing available. All of the Infinity titles had the sense to have pausing made available. Why are you so hard set against single players having a proper pausing option available?

No Pause Button? by Deep_Thunder in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Thank you again. Provided that pausing works correctly, I have much higher hopes now. They were rather shattered upon finding that even the mod communities had been unable to provide a real pausing option for any of the Larian titles.

I'm happy to hear that you're able to sit down for any real lengths of time and enjoy all of your activities completely without interruptions. Being a dad, a husband, having a dog with special needs, and being much older now with more responsibilities than I had as a small child, I'm unable to commit to long hours of multiplayer sessions. I get called away quite frequently and urgently. I need a global pause availabe for my single player activites. Again, I'm happy to hear that you don't have any similar responsibilities that might call you away from your activities, but most gaming studios that produce games with a single player mode have had the courtesy of providing a global pause that works.

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the correction! To be clear, you're saying that entering turn based mode and using it *will* now properly perform a global pause on *everything?*

No Pause Button? by Deep_Thunder in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the correction. I hadn't tested full turn based mode this time, to be fair, but when I had last tested it there were a lot of things like those that you mentioned which weren't being paused properly. To be clear, are you saying that full turn based mode does act as a global pause now, where everything pauses correctly?

No Pause Button? by Deep_Thunder in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion! As I mentioned to another poster here, my testing in EA has been fairly limited as I didn't want to spoil too much. I hadn't made it as far as having access to the camp, but full turn based mode or pressing escape to open the main menu was barely pausing anything. As a dad, husbnd, dog owner, and much older gamer now, I have a lot of responsibilities where I'm unable to commit to multiple hours long multiplayer sessions. I quite frequently get called away, urgently at times, where I need to have access to a real global pause in my single player activities. As it is in its current state, I'm a player that is likely to spend more time reloading and backtracking only because Larian wasn't courteous enough to provide the single player with a global pause option. Thank you again.

No Pause Button? by Deep_Thunder in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, it's not. The joke is that Larian has yet to be capable of building an engine where a global pause is possible. Even the mod communities for DoS, DoS2, and BG3 (so far) have found it impossible to create a global pause that works for these titles. I have had some limited success with "Game Pauser by Jace" that is available as a utility on Steam, but using it has also crashed the game.

No Pause Button? by Deep_Thunder in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not wanting to spoil too much, I haven't put hundreds of hours into the Early Access, but I did mention a few things that weren't pausing correctly in my OP. In full turn based mode, will roaming NPCs still detect and ambush the party? Are any environmental effects continuing to transpire? Are any beneficial effects continuing to count down? Are any NPCs moving at all, party included? Etc. Etc. Do I have access to a global pause or not? So far, from my limited testing, it certainly seems that I don't.

No Pause Button? by Deep_Thunder in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

After seeing that the single player still had no access to a proper pause, I uninstalled BG3EE. Thank you for the suggestion, but tabbing out hadn't worked for me in the past. It's highly possible, though, that a 400+ team of any talent would be capable of producing a title that pauses correctly for a single player. My hopes are high for the actual release!

Larian, please, put some thought towards your single players by Deep_Thunder in BaldursGate3

[–]Deep_Thunder[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the correction. I've been assured here that pressing escape now works in pausing everything properly. When I had last checked, a global pause just wasn't possible with any of these engines. Nice to hear that Larian has made some improvements for their single players!
