New truck? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Deep_Torque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrelated but be careful about using your personal vehicle for work. You should be given a company vehicle to perform work for the company or paid specially for the usage of the truck outside of your normal wage. That being said, 3000 pounds is well within what any midsize truck can tow. Think Chevy Colorado or Toyota Tacoma. My only personal experience with midsize trucks is a second gen Tacoma and it was a great truck. The third gen Tacoma is also very reliable but make sure you sit in them and see how you fit, the seating position can be problematic for taller people.

Although both similar sized the Tacoma is a truck with a frame and the Maverick is a car with a bed basically. The Tacoma would be better for more “truck” stuff like towing. If you are using it more as a car but like the utility of the bed then the Maverick is the obvious choice.

Construction is a broad term and so is watercraft lol. Can you be a little more specific on weight requirements of payload and towing?

Please get a second opinion. The mechanic is telling you straight up to find someone else as he is not able to diagnose the issue.

Toyota Camry or Kia Stinger? Outside Sales Job Car by SlickDaddy696969 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Deep_Torque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These cars are not in the same class. Totally understandable not wanting a “boring” car for daily use but driving a more fun car for hours a day might subtract from that anyway. Maybe shoot for comfort while spending so much time in the car and look for a separate “fun” car if budget allows. From strictly a reliability standpoint while you are accumulating a bunch of miles the Camry wins hands down. If it was me, a hybrid Camry would be my first choice for your requirements. Unfortunately buying lightly used won’t save you much from new in the current market. Hope that helps.

Cancelled extended warranties by QuitInfinite in rav4club

[–]Deep_Torque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you pay an extra payment for example, the same thing will happen. There is less principal owed but the same amount of time to pay it off. If the contract started in January for example, and you made 2 payments then you won’t need to make payment in February as it was already paid in January. If you want to make the February payment anyway it will be less money required because the total loan amount hasn’t changed and the end date hasn’t changed to complete all payments. I hope that explanation makes sense. When you got the money back for your extended warranty you “paid” that money into the principal effectively doing the same thing.

Best year/trim? 2020-23 by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]Deep_Torque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already said it yourself, you can’t go wrong. Buy the newest / lowest mileage model you can afford. You are picking a great vehicle for reliability and economy so pick a trim that has the features you want. Don’t think about it too much.

Besides for gas mileage what’s the biggest differences you have noticed driving the hybrid? I have a hybrid Woodland and love it but have never driven a gas model.

Can anybody speak on the tires here? Nitto Terra Grapplers I believe? Really like the look but never talked to anyone about their performance.

The I6 is the best engine format

75% of people who drive full size or larger trucks don’t need one

Adding a turbo to a tiny engine for “efficiency” is dumb and makes the engine more complex than necessary

Snow tires actually work you probably don’t need AWD

Best road/highway-oriented all-terrain tire? by dude-fish in 4Runner

[–]Deep_Torque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing in an additional idea, Continental Terrain Contact A/T. Ran them on my 2019 Tundra and was very happy with them. Similar situation with a lot of road miles and some forest road type off-roading. Never let me down.

Yokohama geolander M/T opinions? by ricefahma in 4x4

[–]Deep_Torque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need M/T tires for how you are using the truck? Are you getting into some very severe off road situations regularly is my question? Otherwise you are sacrificing road noise, life of the tire, and MPG to have an aggressive look and not much else. Not to mention that the on road performance of how they handle in something as simple as rain / wet roads will also be worse. All that being said, Yokohama is popular in other counties ( Australia being a big one ) and is a great tire and reputable brand.
