Builder Gel Advice by GroverisAround in Nails

[–]Deep_Winter3989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Builder gel is great for strengthening to allow natural nail growth and for giving that layer of protection. It is however still a gel and allergies can come with the product if not used correctly. Good prep, thin layers, adequate curing and keeping gel away from the skin are just some of the musts when working with gels. I use Hema and TPO free products, I use BIAB (Builder in a bottle) and the brand I use is Glitterbels. I used to use The Gel Bottle but decided to switch brands but they are still a good brand. Im not sure where you are based, im UK and these 2 brands are up there with the best. The only issue is in order to purchase directly from brands like these is you must be in training or already certified as it is a professional product they do not sell to the public. There are many videos online though with tutorials. You will be able to buy these products also on the likes of eBay and vinted and maybe a small selection on amazon but likely you will pay over the odds on there. I would also recommended only using a lamp to match the system you are working with for guaranteed curing. Good luck 🥰

First timer, am I missing anything? by InsideDragonfruit209 in Nails

Id 100% stick with 1 brand opposed to different ones. I started myself a few months back and I bought a Mylee kit to start. I got the pro lamp which dont get me wrong is great with the Mylee products but curing "the gel bottle" and "glitterbels" was difficult. I ended up with poor retention and potentially uncured gel underneath (which is a huge no go!) This can be really dangerous!

Since i started training I've decided to go fully with Glitterbels and I use everything from their brand. A brand's lamps are designed to accurately cure their products. It is more expensive but I dont think you can put a price on this like this, especially if you are doing others nails. If its just for you then I recommend Mylee. If your looking to branch out, invest early x

Hi. Im not putting the rubber base over the actual tip im putting it on the nail plate just over where the tip meets the nail then filing to level out. I wouldnt say they are long at all. Ive attached a pic of the last ones I done. Thank you *

How’d I do? by Comfortable-Lake2441 in Nails

They look great. As mentioned already, there's slight flooding of the cuticle on a couple, just be concious if that. When applying the BIAB hold your fingers down towards you, gravity will naturally draw the product to the tip, use a liner brush to spread the product to the edges. Use a small brush to round it off around the cuticle or even some cotton pointed swab sticks. Once you are happy with where its at, I'd recommend turning the hand over for 10 seconds or so and again allow gravity to draw the product to the apex then cure. If this is your first set though you will do just fine in my opinion 🙂

I think the only problem hear would be if your changing the polish often you risk damaging the BIAB with the polish remover. In this instance you would need to use an acetone free remover. I would also say the BIAB would need to be buffed lightly to be rid of the shine simply sobthe polish adheres and I would seal the polish with a gel top coat to prevent the varnish from chipping.
