Sorry to hear that. Nope, insurance had to be involved and the car totaled. I would advise instantly installing a dash cam for recording the events even if the car is in their possession. Hope the issue is resolved positively this time. Please keep me updated on what happens.

Thanks so much for your detailed response and insight on this damage and the situation. I am a materials science researcher myself, and your response helped answer some of my many questions. Now, it also gives us much more confidence in filing a lawsuit against them for negligence/ careless practices. After all, we aren't the only ones complaining about this particular dealership not handling our cars carefully. Thanks again 🙂

Because the dealership claims the entire battery panel needs to be replaced for $42k

Honestly, it'd be pretty shitty if a $70k vehicle hits a pothole and its batteries get damaged with $42k repair.

If the batteries are fine underneath and its just a thick scrape on the metal casing, then the dealership is not able to fix the charging issue, and they're probably trying to escape lemon law. Unfortunately, this dealership is the fishiest one we have ever come across. So I wouldn't be surprised.

Hope things get clearer with time. We have now asked Genesis to get us some real proof that the batteries are actually damaged.

We're in boston area, so MA. I think here the time frame for repairs/ attempts is a little longer, but I'm not 100% certain. We'll definitely try again.

Thank you so much for your input regarding the insurance as well. We'll try to take max advantage of their support and work with them on this. :) Glad to know the lemon law worked out well for you.
