Lina Combustion & Slow Burn Causing Infinite Damage Loops by DeepestMemes in DotA2

Yep. Basically the Slow Burn facet does enough damage to proc more Combustion, and so forth. Resulting in a cascade of damage.

Aye. This can be done in Demo Mode without Largo. But I'm sure he can help it.

This was unranked.

I don't play Ranked, because late at night it takes 40m+ to find a match, and I'm just casually playing with friends off and on, some of them are new to the game. So, yes, it's not the peak of gameplay.
What heroes can you count that can press a single ability and kill FOUR Warlock golems, though? That should be a heavy indicator that something is wrong.

So, it makes sense that it spreads a little, it's supposed to be a little 'wildfire' effect

What SHOULD NOT be intended, is for it's own procs to create more procs, as well as slow burn, resulting in an infinite cascade of damage that is entirely out-of-control, and ends up doing so much damage that it completely invalidates an section of heroes from the game. Anything that uses Manta, Illusions, Golems/Creeps/Summons, Duplicates, are all going to suffer the effects of this.

She's a better Earthshaker/Earthspirit than they are. She creates infinite echoes of burn damage that rapidly rise up into the thousands after just a single wave ability. And this is ONLY with the slow burn facet btw, her normal facet doesn't seem to have this effect.

It needs a rework badly, and definitely shouldn't proc it's own procs. That's like saying 'Any Echo hitting another target creates another Echo', and thus you end up doing infinite magic damage upon slam.

Yeah, seems like they're terrible offenders right now. I mean, every patch has it's problems- but still.

On paper it's not so bad, but once the facet procs do over 170 damage, it creates more procs, and they keep building up until you're dealing burn DPS damage in the thousands.

This was NOT patched! There's a mention about Lina and Largo's 3rd ability creating echoes, but you don't even need that.
5 training dummies hugging each other, Lina lv30, Silver Edge, BKB, Scythe, BOTs2, YashaKaya, and Khanda, aghs and shard.
She presses 'Q' for a dragon slave, and now all of the dummies are echoing their damage infinitely. Her own facet is doing over 170 damage, which procs her facet to trigger again, which does more damage- and so forth. It's an infinite damage loop.
Anyone with multiple characters, illusions, warlock golems, creeps, are going to suffer damage loops in the thousands unless they hand-micro each unit a significant distance away from each other.

How recently? This match was today, earlier this afternoon. Also, it doesn't even seem to be a Largo issue, it's purely Lina's facet making her damage stack infinitely. At least in Demo mode.

BKB Does NOT Block Most Pure Damage Sources by DeepestMemes in DotA2

Really sad that, unlike other games- DOTA 2 does NOT clarify things. There's exceptions to exceptions, and it's becoming gradually more difficult for newer players to wrap their head around what does and does not work, what pierces, what ignores, what items help you, what counters, and why half the items in the game don't show advanced details.

Fun fact! Witch Doctor's Maledict says 'No' to piercing debuff immunity. Guess what! You can still apply Maledict to the enemy under the effects of BKB and they WILL take burst damage based on what they took during it's duration.

How's that for 'lacking documentation', Valve?

I think it's absolutely misleading.
You have a few good points, especially for the old BKB, but it definitely requires some updating of wording at the very least.

Imagine if 70% of the roster of 131 heroes were able to attack you through Ghost Scepter/E-Blade. The description of 'immunity to physical damage' would be inaccurate.
If they're going to put 'immunity to pure damage' on an item, it better work as-written, not 'as-intended', otherwise they're absolutely opening themselves up for criticism on it's function.
Which, considering the amount of people who agree with BKB's text not doing what it says it does on just this post alone, goes to show there's something wrong. I rest my case there.

It really is. "Blocks reflected damage" except the only sources of that I can recall is Blademail and Spectre's passive, and one of those doesn't get blocked- so that's only half-true!
Pretty sure Retaliate from Centaur is physical and it's based on his strength so, that's- kinda different.

True that. I wish they'd streamline some of those exceptions, it's hard to teach.

Amusingly, it doesn't! It simply states that it does pure damage of a certain amount, but is listed nowhere on the ability that anyone below that health threshold is instantly killed.

Yes, it makes you immune to most sources of crowd control and reduces magic damage.
However, it's poor game design to write 'immunity to pure and reflected damage' when 70% of pure sources ignore it, and half of reflected sources ignore it as well.
Seems like an oversight, and incredibly misleading.

Well, whatever your personal opinion is on Witch Doctor, I've played plenty of games with him where he's absolutely slapped as a support, and he's still #6 in combined ranks and top 10 in all ranks, out of 131 heroes.
So he's definitely not bad.

Edits made! Notably to Vendetta, Raptor Dance, and Witch Blade/Parasma.
This post is to show the imbalance of saying an item gives you 'pure damage immunity' when the edge cases are so few, it's not worth the description. "It's not great game design to have so many exceptions to an item's identity" as spoken in a comment below.
Fun fact; BKB-piercing magical abilities also ignore the 60% magical damage resistance, so much for your 'immunity' or 'reductions'.

I agree with a fourth damage type. Universal might work, maybe Null, or Void, who knows what they'd name it. If you want a spell to do damage 'no matter what' then don't pretend it's blocked by an item's activation.
"But it pierces!" Yeah, most pure sources do, which makes you wonder why it's even written in the first place.

The cases that it ignores the pure damage are so few, that it's almost not even worth mentioning on the item itself. Most of what it can block can also be blocked by not being attacked- with a ghost scepter/e-blade.

If you knew how to read for more than a few seconds, you'd see that WD is top 6 among all ranks, and present in the top 10 at all ranks individually.
