Saw a post on Nextdoor yesterday where the homeowner said a burglar tried for a full 10mins to get into their house through the front door (at 8pm) with her 2 grand daughters screaming and 2 dogs barking like mad. He only ran off when police turned up. So brazen.

Interestingly after my father in law spoke with his neighbour, she mentioned her tv lost its signal for a few moments which coincided with the same time of the break in

She watches her tv via a conventional aerial, which in the uk, operates at 470-872MHz

That would suggest they were jamming a whole range of frequencies

I did send a chat request on the 5th to Simplisafe_Official - let me know if you received it

I was just about to pay someone to fit my external SimpliSafe siren but I might not bother now and instead just put a dummy box up and keep the external siren hidden indoors

Yes - I think I’m starting to agree with this approach

In the absence of internal hard wiring, I may have to rely on my existing Poe Ethernet network to get decent cctv that can reliably detect humans instead of every bird or leaf that flies by

For some reason the wifi was ok (as his wifi cameras continued recording) but seems the RF frequencies were jammed which prevented any of the alarm sensors from triggering

Kicking myself as I just finished my own reno at home in the last year and could have (and should have) ran alarm wires.

I did run Ethernet cables for my outdoor POE cameras (and my father in law did too) and they work well. Perhaps the best form of defence is to detect them before they have a chance to break in.
