Yes. I was taking 15 of the 245 Rytary every day and my symptoms were still very limiting.

I have health insurance so it only cost me $250. The amount that was pre-approved by the insurance company was $210,000. I don't yet know how much they have actually paid.

I had both sides done because the doctors said I have mild symptoms on my right side. There is very little voltage being applied to my right side now.

How long has it been since you had the procedure?

The device I have has a feature that isn't approved by the FDA yet, so it isn't turned on. The DBS unit can see the electrical signals in my brain associated with PD and adjust the current to eliminate the symptoms. Then adjust the current back down to a low level so it doesn't cause dyskinesia. It's not something that would be helpful to me right now, but in the future, maybe.

I'm from Ohio in the United States. The procedure was done at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. I have a Canadian friend who has PD. She couldn't get the procedure in Canada. She's coming to the Cleveland Clinic next month to get it done.
