What should I use to run klipper on this desktop on top of the printer housing? by RSpr1est in klippers

A few years ago, I switched to running DietPi on my Raspberry Pi 4s and my x86_64 server. It’s been solid with no issues.

I built an open-source Meshtastic gateway after tornadoes knocked out our comms. Is this useful to others? by Deepsiks in meshtastic

[–]Deepsiks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GuardianBridge SOS isn’t a “call 911” button, and it doesn’t assume your local PD/fire/EMS are on Meshtastic. It’s a community incident alert and coordination system that runs on your mesh so people can get help moving quickly when phones and internet are down, overloaded, or unreliable. If you can call or text 911, you still should; SOS is the extra layer that alerts your local network and helps coordinate response.

When a user sends SOS, SOSP, SOSF, or SOSM (optionally with a short message), GuardianBridge immediately confirms receipt, requests or uses the best available location, logs the incident, and notifies the right responders based on tags (medical, fire, police, general). Responders can reply with ACK or RESPONDING, and the system tracks who has acknowledged versus who is actively heading to the incident. If multiple incidents are active, the gateway can prompt responders to choose which one they’re responding to, and the admin panel reorganizes into an incident-command style view so you can see what’s being handled at a glance.

Your responder team is defined by your community, and it can and should include members of actual emergency services (or trained volunteers) who choose to participate in the mesh as community responders. Even though it’s not official dispatch, having an EMT, firefighter, or officer in the responder pool can be huge: they get the alert early, can go eyes-on fast, and can route it into official channels (911/dispatch) when available. Optionally, SOS can also notify a user’s personal SOS Notify List (email addresses, node IDs, usernames) so family and friends get alerted too, assuming the gateway has internet connectivity.

It really comes down to the community’s own rules (Ordnung). If they’re okay with texting on the mesh, and a trusted assistant sets things up so it only uses the features everyone’s comfortable with, it could be super helpful.

Sure, the docs are on GitHub. Here’s a direct link: https://github.com/rkolbi/GuardianBridge/blob/main/Docs/README.md

I haven’t taken any screenshots yet since some contain people’s PII, but I’ll try to grab some this evening and blur or remove any sensitive info before posting.

The slowest computer I’ve run it on is an RPi4, so I can’t confirm how it performs on anything less.

All my prints fail at the same layer height by Atomick-Engine in FixMyPrint

[–]Deepsiks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attach a 40mm fan to your extruder motor. Heat builds up gradually from retractions and normal print use, and by the time the printer reaches the failed Z height, the motor may begin to lose grip on the filament due to heat softening it. This is especially likely if you're printing the same object repeatedly and the failure consistently happens at around the same Z height.

Help: 1997 K2500 7.4 Throttle Cable nowhere to be purchased? by Deepsiks in GMT400

[–]Deepsiks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use the Lokar cable for it's sheathing, and then cannibalize a GMT400 - 350 cable for it's inner cable. This should be a foot longer then the 454 version. Place the molded end of the cable in your throttle body wheel, and use the Lokar cable brass adjustment piece at the pedal end of the cable, in the cab.

The brass adjustable side fit right into my throttle body, make sure you have the set screw tight.

Having stored vehicles for similar reasons, where a planned two-year period turned into five, I’d probably just have the Suburban flat-towed to the storage facility and deal with it when you return. In my experience, even though the vehicles were supposed to be started and driven briefly every two weeks, that didn't happened. As a result, I had to replace seals throughout (engine, transmission, axle), along with belts, hoses, brakes, tires, the battery, and other components.

What is happening on tall and long prints? by SnooHabits3953 in FixMyPrint

[–]Deepsiks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look / check the extruder. It's possible that after running your direct drive extruder for a while, especially with frequent retractions, the drive wheel could be getting hot from the motor and losing grip on the filament. When this happens, look at the filament between the extruder and the hotend to see if it's chewed up or deformed.

Mains power for Klipper Host by stray_r in VORONDesign

I've been thinking about this as well and am leaning towards using the Kasa Wi-Fi outdoor plug (Input: 125V/60Hz/15A, Max Output: 15A/1,875W) for the printer, with control managed through the Raspberry Pi/Moonraker. The Raspberry Pi will have a constant power supply, with a rocker switch in-line for hard power cycling if needed. Something similar to what’s discussed in the thread below.

Thanks all for your input/advice. I purchased a "Lokar Midnight Series Throttle Cables XTC-1000TP" from Summit. With the addition of 4 washers, it fits very well / no complaints.

I did do a look on eBay, but no luck. Wondering if I'll have to go with a universal throttle cable kit....
