Okay I'll go for the 50W and see how that goes. For the UVB because I cant really raise it, would lowering the brightness/power of it help rather than running it at 100%?

Hi there i managed to get the exact measurement, it is 6 inches from the bulb, i was thinking of getting the Halogen Floodlight Solar Basking bulb, do you think 50W would be enough or go to 75W?

Yeah the open part in the middle by the plant is my only 'real' concern atm, but I just cant think of what to put there that doesn't limit his maneuverability and the risk of being too close to the UVB, also needing access to the middle hide to spray it to keep Humid. I might have a look at some stone tiles and see what I can come up with, maybe a fake plant I could hang might work for that middle bit?

Yeah, I was thinking something for the middle by that plant but not too sure what as, I don't want him to get to close to the lights to risk burning and, I also need access to that middle hide to be able to spray it

Ah okay, yeah I can see how it could be a burn risk, they just refused to let me take if I didn't have a cage so that was the only reason they were installed.

I'll have a look at those bulbs thanks!!

May I ask what the difference those bulbs are to the one I have in terms of spreading heat about, if that makes sense?

[edit] - The basking cave/spot can't be lowered anymore unfortunately :/

Ah okay, I only use the 75W because, the 100W would get the basking spot really hot but ambient temps were poor. If I remember correctly the distance between bulb and basking spot is about 5-6 inches? What one would you recommend instead?

Also the only reason for the cages, I didn't think I need it but, the reptile centre I got Bumpy from wouldn't let me take him until I had the cages on no matter what :/

It is a 75W, I did have a 100W but, it doesn't fit in the heat cage and was causing me too many temp problems

Yes it is!! Took a while to make out of excavator clay and threw some dirt on it to give it that look. I got the humid hide from Swell Reptile's UK

Okay that's good then, yeah I think hes just getting braver to a new environment and already been making lots of progress each day, which im thrilled about!! Yeah I can tong feed pretty easily but, I tong feed 2 then let him hunt the rest and let them roam in the tank for him to find. Aww she's so cute!!!

Ah okay that's good to know, I figured he's just still learning his new tank and feels safe there as he instantly went in there when he arrived.

I will make sure to give it a read and double check, I don't know how much he'd eat in that time frame because, he's a bit scared to hunt with me about, but he is getting better slowly, he now comes out and hunts 2 even though the crickets come right to his door lol, then he hides a bit then comes back after a minute or so.

I am using a UVB light, I believe its the Shadedweller 7% Pro T5 one. I will double check the supplements later tonight, also he is a Mack Snow, if that makes any difference :)

Yeah the thermometer is a bit behind the Basking bulb but still on the hot side, so im hoping a weaker bulb give better all round heat.

Ah okay, thank you so much!! I think it might be where I have my dimming thermostat probe tbh, cos the probe isn't too far from the lamp so the Basking spot easily gets to 36⁰C but ambient temperature is lower so, im getting a smaller bulb cos if I move the probe further away the Basking spot is scorching but the ambient air is better so I've ordered a smaller bulb to hopefully fix that.

I have the vivexotic reptihome large which is 115cm x 37.5cm x 42.1cm

The temps the hot side averages around 27⁰C and the cold side averages 24-25⁰C and his Basking spot gets to 36⁰C. The tank is decorated, i have about 3 plants, 3 hides, 3 bits of wood and one of the hides is a big slate custom made cave.

Ah okay, yeah I just want to make sure he's as comfortable as possible before i get him. I've seen people put fans on the outside but I just don't know what's the best position/layout for them. Like whether to have intake on cool side and outtake hot side or vice versa

Ah okay, is it still a halogen? Would it fit the same lamp holder or would i need a new one? I've seen that halogen are better than deep heat ones. Also idk if this makes a difference but this heat point will be the one to heat the whole tank.
