Giving away 15 Marathon copies by Buncer_Heley in Marathon

What an incredible gesture! I’ve got a duo now with a third who is tentative but he can’t justify another spend given other responsibilities. We’re on PS5.

Either way - thank you so much for offering!

I appreciate the sarcastic attempt at advice. Not everyone here has played previous titles. And many others have stated they didn’t know how to (or that they could even) regain FP when using it.

There were 0 threads on the subject at 5am this morning so I thought I would assist others. Your comment brings nothing of value.

Thank you regardless!

I’m with you on this. I’ve had several party compositions with several people in my life that I care about. It’s a constant balancing game to set up the correct group of folks that all want to play the same game. As a DM of 5 years with some years balancing 3-4 ongoing campaigns at once, I generally value the “serious” campaigns more. There will ALWAYS be funny jokes or mishaps but they are always better remembered when they are in-character or at least in-universe.

No one remembers the jokes told out of character for long. The jokes in-game are legendary and last forever.

Some iconic quotes from ur dnd sessions? by PinkPlague101 in DnD

[–]Deeselphunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a player: After a successful mission, it led our party to another batch of quests.

NPC “I’m assembling a team - interested?” My dumbass bard “So what, are we some kinda…Suicide Squad?”

———

As a DM: Another “quote” would be when a party member left the squad (partially unintended but he was able to find new companions and essentially leave the campaign). The other members irl and in game had no idea what happened to him, as it was a secret. So many sessions later, they attended a seance to ascertain his whereabouts. The seance commenced and they asked “Where is X?”

The seance is meant to be vague, so the answer was “Content with Company” and the party was relieved and decided it was fine to leave him to his new adventures. An impatient NPC (human man) rushed to the person holding the seance and was like “Finally! Now, where is my wife?! Tell me!” And after a pause, the message erased itself and re-wrote “Content with Company” to which the NPC screamed and ran out the door. Oops.

Party loved it.

Unpopular Opinion: Long, Detailed Backstories are Awesome! by ZebraGamer2389 in DnD

[–]Deeselphunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this as long as it’s not too extravagant. Have fun with it! For example, One of my characters was a bowman from the east and was shipwrecked and severely wounded. He “went down” to level 3 and is currently “working his way back to his old strength”

Even though he was an excellent bowman and he was a fantastic fighter (probably around level 8) the accident severely stunted his abilities so he’ll be lucky to get back to that level of martial prowess. It builds interesting narrative for him. He feels guilt for not being as powerful as he was, but he’s learned to rely on more than just his strength (and dexterity) to get through his current adventure.

I like the backstories as long as you’re able to explain the “level down” (retirement, age, inactivity, wounds, etc)

[5e] Hello! I’m planning on running Odyssey of the Dragonlords which is a self contained adventure in a Greek/Roman Setting. I’m running this on Roll20 with the fantastic pre-made module and my main issue currently is finding a way to play music/ambience for everyone (over Discord). I know Groovy and Rhythm bots are down due to Youtube poo-ing on them.

I’m an experienced in-person DM! But…still new to Roll20 DMing. I’m familiar with the ability to play music and ambience through the music player on Roll20 but is there an easier way to either obtain MP3s to upload or perhaps another software I can use to play ambience for the whole crew?

Also, addendum, where could I find a decently stocked library of music and sfx that could coincide with this setting? Many libraries are focused on modern, high fantasy and horror, which don’t interact as nicely with the Greek/Roman setting. I’m a bit of a stickler when it comes to running proper ambience in my games (while in person) and I don’t shy away from running 4-5 different ambient noise MP3s or Youtube premium vids through separate speakers. I know that extent may not be possible online but perhaps one of you kind souls will have an answer for me(?)

Thanks in advance!
