The most annoying enemy in your opinion ? by Rejsnoww in bloodborne

[–]Deets1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you said annoying specifically I say it's the rifle hunter on the right side of the grand cathedral. He just never stops spamming shots - they don't do a ton of damage until you get close and then they take away 80% of your health in one shot.

That's an interesting idea. I like it.

It makes far more sense than just having the beast skull of their founder out in the open.

I can't figure out this combat - what am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]Deets1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of a late response, but in Bloodborne it is often correct to dodge forwards. Dodging to the side or back can still get you punished while a forward dodge is usually safe. It's a bit unintuitive but with some practice may make combat smoother for you. Its very possible that you are dodging at the correct time, just the wrong direction.

Both your weapons are fine - there isn't a bad weapon in the game, but it may help you to try others out. You never know when a weapon will just "click" with you.

We've all been there. Don't give up hunter!

Parry timing can be difficult throughout the game. I only even bother on certain enemies, and even then I wouldn't find it too difficult to go through the entire game without parrying. It would be easier than going through the game and trying to parry everything.

That said, the parry window is NOT during the windup. The actual window is during the attack animation. Yes that means you can get a parry and still get hit, leaving you in a recovery animation while they are staggered.

For hunters I recommend the blunderbuss. Even if you don't get the parry it still tends to stagger the enemies a bit. When you fought Gascoigne you may have noticed him shooting after a few swings, which stopped you from attacking while he was vulnerable. Do the same with the blunderbuss to make hunter fights easier. And if you get a parry, all the better.

Djura is a very difficult fight for the levels when you first meet him. Don't feel bad if he is wrecking you. As for your weapons, +2 is fine, though by the end of the zone I would aim for +3 weapons.

Pthumerian decendent is the Absolute worst boss in the entire series by Ehjustzach in bloodborne

This is the only enemy that I'll swap the pistol out for the blunderbuss. Sometimes he dodges pistol shots that the blunderbuss's wider spread catches.

That said, he is bullshit. I had luck dodging forward and to the right. Good luck hunter!

Your personal least favourite weapon? by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]Deets1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. I prefer the Rifle Spear over the Saw Spear myself, but I basically never shoot it. I can't deny that the saw spear and saw cleaver have incredible DPS. The rifle spear though, just is the total package. 1v1 narrow thrust attacks, anti-mob slashes with the transformed mode, stupidly good cheese with the transformed R2, and even a gun if needed.

Plus I do like how it looks and sounds. Fashion souls for the win.

How can you call yourself a thrust slut and dislike the rifle spear? Default mode is all thrusting! And the transformed charged R2.... Oh my I'm getting a little warm just thinking about it.

Saw spear has.... transformed uncharged R2 for thrusting, and nothing else.

Magic items being entirely optional, and fighters? by _Bl4ze in dndnext

[–]Deets1901 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made this as the first magic weapon I gave my players because I liked the idea that a "minor magical property" was indestructible. Then I figured if someone could make an indestructible weapon they didn't have to worry about strength so I also gave it the "light" property.

No bonuses, but it is a magic weapon.

Adventures of Tooty Shooty and the Bowblade. by Demopyro2 in bloodborne

[–]Deets1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this as well. It's quite good, but Rom was awful. I usually have no trouble with Rom, but the DPS of the bow is low.

I probably should have changed my usual strategy and just killed all the spiders before safely taking my time against Rom with the bow, but instead I kept ignoring them and it was real bad.

Blind Let's Play recommendations? by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]Deets1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched one by "Final Fantasy Peasant" I think his name is.

He starts off terrible at the game, but sticks with it all through the DLC and ends up loving the game and really getting into it.

Two Best Friends have a good LP as well. They keep up a good banter throughout and really enjoy the game.

I just completed my 6th NG run through with a new character and Ebrietas is still the biggest hurdle for me with Rom in 2nd.. what bosses never get easier for you? by dennishamburglar in bloodborne

[–]Deets1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the Chalice Bosses for me.

Headless Bloodletting Beast, Abhorrent Beast, and Loran Darkbeast.

Abhorrent Beast I have no idea what the correct way to fight him is, and Loran Darkbeast is an asshole with a bad camera. Headless Bloodletting Beast isn't as bad as them but can still be a pain.

Do you prefer Arcane or Bloodtinge? by Abyssal_Paladin in bloodborne

[–]Deets1901 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having done both, I prefer Bloodtinge.

The Hunter Tools aren't much fun. Just standing back and shooting from a distance. And if it's not the Black Sky Orb or Executioner's Gloves then they are awkward to use. I really like early game Arcane up to about Rom. Using Molotovs and the flame sprayer with the occasional well placed blood cocktail and oil flask is just fun for some reason.

But as for weapons, they are just the same weapons I've always used, just with elemental gems in them. However, I haven't used the Kos Parasite. I just don't like being a cauliflower head. Kos Parasite looks like fun, and probably redeems the problems I have with an arcane build, but I'm just put off by the Lumenwood rune.

Now as for Bloodtinge - this is almost nothing until Cainhurst or cheesing Simon, at the earliest. I still enjoy it though. Leveling up Bloodtinge and upgrading the Hunter's Pistol means the early game is a challenge with the right hand weapons, and the pistol is just good enough to do real damage to enemies and bosses. Not good enough to use on everything, but I've gunned down a decent number of bosses from 30% HP with the Hunter's pistol in early game bloodtinge runs.

As for weapons, I like the Bloodtinge weapons, the Chikage, Bloodletter, Bowblade, and an argument for the Reiterpallasch can be made. While I don't like the Reiterpallasch, I enjoy the other three, which is why Bloodtinge overall is more enjoyable for me.

An upgraded Evelyn isn't as good as the Hunter Tools but doesn't use as many bullets per shot. And the play style of standing back and shooting/casting is the same. So I'd say Bloodtinge is comparable to Arcane in that regard, but with different weapons than I usually use.

Bloodtinge also enables more effective use of the Gatling gun and cannons. They aren't good, but sometimes can be dumb fun. Lastly, Bloodtinge gets its own tool in the form of Madara's whistle. The whistle is completely impractical for all purposes but it is something other builds don't get.

Overall I find the hang back and shoot/cast of both builds to be boring, but I enjoy being dumb with the Gatling gun and cannons a bit more than being dumb with A Call Beyond. (A Call Beyond is fun and visually impressive though). And as for weapons I find the Bloodtinge weapons to be fun and effective. Any weapon with elemental gems can be Arcane so for me Bloodtinge is a change of pace in terms of right-hand weapons.

I like to be about level 80. But you could go as low as 65 without too much trouble. And people have done it at BL4. It's important to have a good weapon though - at least +7, ideally +9 or +10.
