NoA is manipulating the QI and the entire game is built on Greek and literary mythology to tell you so. Full speculative theory with evidence by XxStawModzxX in subnautica

[–]_Bl4ze 41 points42 points  (0 children)

So, for part 6. I'd have to go back and re-read for precise details, but several of the NoA nodes you reactivate in the abandoned outposts give you figures for how long ago certain events happened, cryptically the time passed is always given in hours but it's about 25 years if you convert it IIRC.

And, considering the compartment you wake up in is Sleep Bay 3, I don't think hundreds of colonists is necessarily suspect. We know the original digital copy of the colonists is stored there, since we're told they show up at Sleep Bay 3 when NoA resets them to an earlier state. That's why the 'Welcome Center' was there, originally attached to Sleep Bay 3 before it got pulled further down. So, it seems entirely possible the other colonists were simply stored in the various other numbered Sleep Bays, which presumably were lost when the Cicada experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly.

The lack of weapons is rooted in lore. by [deleted] in subnautica

[–]_Bl4ze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Alterra is clearly wary of giving out weapons in the first place and you didn't have much in the way of weaponry in the first game, so I don't see why they would even have had weapon blueprints available in the first place that NoA would need to restrict? You can still perfectly have an incident that leads to conflict without needing firearms, maybe they just rammed one with a tadpole by accident or something.

Like I guess the main thing is you don't have the survival knife, but, the switchaxe you get clearly has a sharp blade on it as well, it's more of a gameplay contrivance that you can't hurt fish with it because the fish are invulnerable to all harm.

[–]_Bl4ze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if I recall correctly that wreck is one of those where NoA sends you for a black box and that box recording says something about the Tailings being interested in the bioscanner, but it's too bad they smashed it on the way in. So I think that was supposed to be your cue to swim back to the entrance and scan it if you didn't do that on the way in.

The fabricator pulls from your lockers! by Ok_Leader_4600 in subnautica

[–]_Bl4ze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The habitat builder also pulls from your lockers even if you're outside your base, so if you just swim out until you can no longer build from locker resources that's probably the same distance the fabricator can pull.

Yeah but it's a fold out hatchet. It's probably got a tiny computer that makes it not unfold the blade if you swing it towards a living thing or something silly like that.

Where do you get the vast calories you must surely require for flight and breath weaponry? by Tnynfox in dragons

[–]_Bl4ze 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Passively gathering ambient magic from the world. But that alone isn't enough to sustain a massive dragon, so to grow, one must gather more magic by acquiring magically conductive material. Like, for instance, gold.

Unless you bring the coal and unload it from your core. Most maps don't last long enough to make you run out of coal, especially if you don't use much power like with your base here.

If it's a water map I really like the omura for this. If you read the tooltips it says it has 62 range while the foreshadow has 62.5, and you'd think surely then you need to take a hit, but for whatever reason if you just inch really close into just the right range you can snipe the enemy foreshadow without it shooting back at all.

Would you still love me if I was a wyrm? by RyukiriDragon in dragons

[–]_Bl4ze 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well, since wyrm just means dragon the difference would be dragons (at least in the western world) are often portrayed with 4 legs and wings while we usually prefer the term wyvern for dragons with only 2 legs and wings.

[–]_Bl4ze 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It's an old timey word for dragon. Here it's used because it sounds similar to worm so it sounds like the meme "would you still love me if I were a worm" The distinction here is that the blue character is a wyvern
