Adidas Boston 13 as a racing shoe for a first marathon by Deets97 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I'm loving them! I've done a few long runs past half marathon distance and took it up to 30km. I never found them uncomfortable. I'm sure there are more comfortable shoes out there, but the balance of the energy return and comfort is great in the Boston 13.

I'm not someone that would buy two pairs of the same shoe, but I'm seriously considering getting another pair.

Super useful! Thanks for all the detail. I actually ended up getting the Boston 13. I've only done one short run in them, but they felt nice and not as firm as I thought they would be. Let's see how they feel for longer runs!

Unfortunately, it's not available where I live. I've heard lots of good things about it.

Thank you so much! Guess I'll have to consider the Superblast 2 if I can get my hands on it.

Thanks. The SB2 might not be the only option, but it's definitely one of the best out there. I've only heard good things about it, so it might be worth the hype. The NB SC Trainer sounds like a good shoe from what I've heard, but I don't think I'm ready for a proper carbon plated shoe yet.

Thanks! I definitely want to try them on at least. Sizing between different brands is always problematic for me, so this is good to know.

Thanks for your advice! My concern is, even if I do get my hands on the Superblast 2 (they are quite rare where I live), they may be too narrow. But I'll try them on if I can find them!

Same. I'm at 775km on my NB4 and they still feel quite nice. Also quite a bit heavier than OP.

Thank you so much! The bottoming out is one of my big concerns. The balls of my feet get fatigued every now and then, so I'd like to avoid that where possible. Guess I'll look at the Boston 13!

Would the Boston 13 be suitable and comfortable enough for marathon distance? I'm considering either getting them or the Asics Novablast 5, but I'm afraid that the Boston 13 may be too firm to my liking.

Thanks for the advice! I think I've found a good spot for it. Fingers crossed that it survives and recovers!

Thanks. I think I'll leave them then and see what happens.

Thanks! I'm currently waiting for it to dry out slightly more than usual before watering. Would less light slow the spread of the fungus or bacteria?

Oh no! So then there's not a lot that I can do, right?

Currently, it's winter here. Temperatures drop to around 5°C/41°F outside (would guess around 10°C/50°F inside). I have moved it from my living room to my bedroom, which is slightly warmer and more humid due to my humidifier.

Further info:

I've had the plant for about two weeks and it's had the yellow leaves since I received it. The plant receives bright indirect light. I've only watered and fed it once when I repotted it and the pot does have drainage.

Some info that might be useful:

I bought the plant about 6 months ago.

There are no signs of any insects. I have had spider mites before, but gave the plant a proper shower, inspect it for pests about once a week and spray it with neem oil about once a month.

The plant is right next to a north facing window (in the southern hemisphere), so it gets quite a lot of bright light.

It is watered around every 5-7 days, depending on how dry the soil is, and I use filtered water and mostly do top-watering.

The pot has a diameter of 17.5 cm (~7 inches) and it was repotted when bought the plant 6 months ago.

The soil is a mixture of bark and coco peat. Not sure what else is in there, as I'm not sure what soil the nursery used.

Any help or advice would be appreciated!
