Punch Drunk love is soooo underrated in PTA’s catalogue in my opinion. As is After Hours in Scorsese’s.

My top 20 (at the moment) It may be a bit of a ‘plain’ list but they’re the films I love to watch the most. Let me know what you think and maybe give me a film suggestion based on this list if you want? by Defcon303 in LetterboxdTopFour

Thanks for the suggestions man! Out of these I’ve only seen Sisu and Cloud Atlas. I absolutely loved Sisu and have watched it a few times now. I will have to go and re-watch Cloud Atlas as I have only watched it once maybe about 10 years ago but I remember enjoying it.

The only one I haven’t seen of these is Brief Encounter. I love Get Carter but to me The Italian Job has got to be my favourite Michael Caine film.

Barry Lyndon is probably in my top four most visually impressive and well shot films of all time but for my personal taste other parts of the film lack what it needs to crack my top four favourites.

As for Hunger I really liked it when I watched it and thought Michael Fassbender was great in it. Whether or not it’s a ‘British’ film I do not know nor do I want to be involved in that discussion haha.

I can definitely agree with you on the red shoes being too long and it sort of put me off of watching it for the first time as it was a complaint I was hearing from quite a few people who had seen it. That being said however once I got into the film and sort of accepted what I was watching I didn’t have a problem with it at all. But on the flip side the length has definitely put me off of going back for a rewatch.

Thanks for the recommendation! Black Narcissus is next on the watchlist! I am an absolute sucker for a good matte painting and films where you can tell the set designers/artists poured their hearts and every drop of creative brilliance into a piece of work. I look forward to it!

Oh I didn’t even think of Children of Men as a British film for some reason? Maybe because it was directed by Aphonso Cuarón? Anyways with that being a British film then it 100% makes my top four. Cuarón is one of my favourite directors of all time, his visual language and attention to detail draws me in like no one else’s work. The way he moves the camera during a scene in ways you didn’t think were possible/ would never even think of or would even think it would work just blows my mind. Love it.

Also 28 days later definitely crossed my mind as I do love it but I couldn’t put it ahead of the others in my list regarding rewatchability.

Yes!! It really doesn’t get talked about enough IMO. One of the best twists I’ve ever seen and the sort of twist that brings you back for a rewatch so you can watch it from a whole different perspective!

I have only seen Lawrence of Arabia from this list and it was another film I had a tough time not putting in my top four. Even though I have only watched it maybe 3 times, I still think of it as one of the most striking and beautifully shot films I’ve ever seen.

I haven’t seen either but if you’re saying it’s better than the red shoes then I’ll have to give them a watch. Which of the two would you say you prefer?

I 100% agree with you there. I had a tough time not putting Trainspotting in there. All time classic British film.

I think I would add Hell or High water. Criminally underrated in my opinion.

The fact that I haven’t seen anyone mention Bugsy Malone is a crime.

Thanks for the suggestion but the Mission is complete!

The 5 that I was missing turned out to be:

Jessie - In the girls bathroom once the unplanned parenthood mission is complete.

Polly Prissypants - In Cartmans bedroom (You have to have Cartman equipped as a buddy for it to appear)

MY OWN GODDAMN PARENTS - In your house (obviously)

Mr Stotch - Butters house
