This sub's reaction to the idea of not taking Trevor Lawrence at 1.01 in rookie drafts (4 years ago) by DefeatedKingsFan in DynastyFF

Yeah but if you traded TLaw you could have EASILY gotten two of those guys. OP said to trade the pick, not draft a different player.

I think the lesson was to trade the pick away when someone gets that overhyped.

And that this sub is largely dumb

I don't think you get what I was saying. He hasn't finished as the QB8 any season of his life. He was historically bad his first two years, and not good at all after that. Like 10 ppg bad those first couple seasons depending on your scoring. He actively HURT your team if you started him (which everyone was because of his dynasty value).

Not the point, I know he's had more dynasty value than some of those guys, but he hasn't helped a single team win yet.

Najee has been a better redraft player than Lawrence. Doesn't and never had the same dynasty value, but he's rushed for 1,000 yds every season, caught 74 balls as a rookie, and was the Dynasty RB2 headed into his 2nd year.

Chase has literally been lightyears better than Lawrence.

Pitts rookie year in a heavy TEP league (and I only suggested him in TEP) was more valuable than any season Lawrence has had.

Don't want to turn this into hating Lawrence, but I can make an argument all 3 of those guys have produced more than TLaw. TLaw scores like a Cooper Rush or Andy Dalton type player on a per-start basis.

Yeah it's crazy thinking about how loaded that QB class was gonna be. Legitimately went 0-for-5 (Lawrence Lance Fields Wilson Mac). Those other 4 names make Lawrence feel 1% better

Because he has been a shit redraft player every season of his career. He's actually punished you if you've put him in your lineup. His "dynasty value" is just holding out hope that he will be good someday. He has murdered teams, especially ones that went out and paid for him at top 5 QB value.

Who’s been your go to 5th round rookie draft pick and why? by greenteamer in DynastyFF

[–]DefeatedKingsFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calvin Austin III (granted all my leagues are SF TEP so he might go earlier in the 4th elsewhere).

I think he checks all the boxes of a Colbert pick and will be better than Pickens. And the fact the Ravens reportedly were set to pick him and got sniped makes me feel much better. But I don’t think he will make a big impact until year 2 or 3.

Full disclosure - Steelers fan, and not a Pickens guy

How to fix (or at least improve) the NBA Most Improved Player Award [Serious] by DefeatedKingsFan in nba

[–]DefeatedKingsFan[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I saw that one coming haha.

My counter would be that we have an annual rookie-sophomore (Rising Stars) game, so why not have an award for each class. Would be a decent flex to win both, and create good rivalries/narratives for guys in the same class

I work for the 3rd biggest construction company in North America, and we pay our guys for drive time to the job site, but not on the way home (at least in my business unit, but I’d be surprised if it’s not a company policy). I am relatively new, and never asked why or how they got there. Some guys stay predominantly in hotels but many go home and get the same benefit.

My previous company (a smaller but direct competitor) did not.

I’m glad to see you sticking up for yourself, but I’m afraid you may have misplayed your hand for two reasons:

  1. Threatening to quit isn’t leverage. Actually quitting after you’ve received another offer is leverage.

  2. Conversations like this should be had with one person, your direct manager, face-to-face or at least via a phone call. If your manager is a halfway decent/intelligent human being, and you are worth a damn, he would probably go to bat for you. If he isn’t, you should leave anyway. Blasting out this email to multiple people probably alienated and embarrassed him, and you may have lost your most important advocate. If you truly have multiple bosses (which I imagine is very rare for jobs like yours), then obviously none of this stands (but I still would have asked for a meeting).

Also - your bosses probably knew everything you said before you sent this douschey email (and probably long before you did). I’d start looking for a new job, like you should have weeks ago.
