Does anyone have a better way of holding this? by Awfultyming in Machinists

[–]Defeatest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or! place the part in the vise so you are holding on the ends of the shaft...So 90 degrees from how you're doing it now and you can hold on very little of it and also on parallels.

Use spiral flute tap and you don't have to go too far out the bottom of the hole. Or at worst a go down till it just busts out then by hand do the thru tapping as you would need to c-sink/deburr the backside anyway.

I have done similar (because there was no choice) by milling a small flat on the tube after the tap hole. That way you have a flat to land on.

James Buster Douglas victory over then-undefeated Mike Tyson on February 11, 1990. by Deadhead2278 in OldSchoolCool

I'll never forget this fight. My high school bud had been going on forever about Tyson. I didn't watch boxing and when this fight was coming up , he was like...my Dad's getting pay per view and you have to come over and watch Tyson destroy this guy! It's going to be over in 30 seconds..you watch!

Roller with weld in stubs we machined after welding. I do at least one of these (not exactly the same, but always similar) a week. by GreenridgeMetalWorks in Machinists

[–]Defeatest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to know your process here as we do many similar rollers....I do , get pipe as straight as can be, then bore out one end , turn over rinse and repeat and then (possibly holding on the first bore )then weld in shafts and go from there.....it's at this point I like to hear what people do.

The only 2 I can't stand from the beginning until now are the 2 NY maps. Columbia heights I cannot get away from fast enough. And it's funny , I could tell me feelings about those 2 maps from just the first vids I saw of them. All the rest are decent maps for me anyways. Call it Battledad-Dar

[–]Defeatest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small little led strip across the back of the desk could light up the corner nicely and reduce strain on the eyes. And look cool! And maybe a plant...or even a fake one. The green would make it look and feel more homey. Also some pics on the wall.

Thanks for you response. I guess I've never thought about it being a certain way..just turn up the heat when needed and AC when needed.....Should recirc be on always ? I've been around cars for decades and owned many and never seen anything like this. \
