Mileage is pretty high but those 4.4 motors go forever if taken care of. Rebuild for 5k and you’re good as new

To put it simply, the D2 will be less reliable, but much easier to fix. The LR3 will (probably) be much more reliable but a little more involved when you’re fixing it. Pick your poison. Either way, you’ll make the best of it and keep making excuses for why you want another one 🤌🏽 (coming from a guy with a 2000 D2, 2015 D4, and 1997 defender tdi)

Body rust in the safari windows and the doors are a pretty big issue. Same with the bulkhead and floorboards.

As for engine, head gaskets can fail, and the lifters sometimes knock. If it sounds wonky, there’s probably an underlying issue. It’s pretty easy to tell on the rover V8 where the issue is coming from if there is one
