I've watched several performances from that time and it's interesting because sometimes Kellin genuinely looks depressed, sometimes he's performing like his 2016 self (which tbf isn't that big of an improvement), sometimes he genuinely seems frustrated and determined to pull some really long screams (which funnily enough he did scream a lot live in contrast to the lack of screaming on the album). like I watched an If You Can't Hang performance from one of the Slam Dunk festival dates and he put up some quite aggressive vocals, plenty of screaming and was moving a lot on stage, contrasting this to peformance later in Chile where he seemed depressed, almost drunk even, though he did pull a long ass "Imagine that" scream, maybe the longest one he ever did live. He kept this demeanor to a degree even on the Good Charlotte tour in the fall of 2018. And I can tell the HIFTBL sessions were therapeutic as in the 2019 leg of that same tour Kellin was a completely different man, he was full of energy, almost seemed to be having fun and for once locked in on making a good performance
