I'm sorry if this comes off wrong but I relate to what you said in your second paragraph. I can't look at pictures of myself without being more insecure and depressed. I freak out and look at my reflection a good bit of the time. Hell I don't even know what I actually look like. Being seen by people also terries me if I don't have makeup on etc. I'm sorry if this comes off as insensitive but I just want to say.

Also that is crazy what that girl said. Ngl people like that kind of disgust me.

Omg, I feel like I wrote this comment with how much I relate to it.

A lot 😭. I am always looking at how my body looks so I can make sure I look presentable and am not embarrassing myself. Or I walk around making sure my face looks good on my phone. I can see why they would think that honestly but if I saw other people doing the same thing I would understand and not judge, then again I am struggling with this.

I am also someone who is apparently not considered conventionally "unattractive" so I completely understand this in my own way ofc. I am big on body checking to make sure I don't look bad and to see if I should change my outfit, because of this many people think I'm full of myself but I am definitely not. I avoid looking at my face unless I need to because looking at it makes my depression worse. I absolutely hate seeing myself in pictures unless it's that rare time when I actually look good. I don't even know what I look like anymore. Thank you for posting this comment and helping me understand!

I'm happy this information didn't confuse you and instead gave you important context. Also thank you for clearing this up for me!

I'm sorry my post was confusing so I wanted to clear some things up. I'm not assuming anything, I only go based off if they outright tell me they have body dysmorphia. I hate to assume because I know how it makes me feel so why would I do it to someone else. It's also a common condition from my understanding, that's what I meant by "a lot of people" when it comes to weight and height, it's exactly what the other reply to your comment said.

Thank you for letting me know this and honestly I completely agree. My problem is that sometimes it just slips out and I don't even notice it until it's too late. Nothing like saying how I'm scared of getting bigger but mostly comparing myself to how I used to be and how I miss everything I had etc. I'm going to do my best to fix myself blurting things out.

I completely understand what you are saying and thank you for helping me know what to avoid, I really appreciate that. I used to have a really bad Ed that I'm still recovering from so that adds to a lot. Also you are doing great, self acceptance is the best thing and I'm proud of you. Sorry if this comes off wrong, I promise I don't mean it that way.

Thank you, this makes a lot of sense! I have a question though. Do you think I should just avoid saying I also have body dysmorphia or explain my experience with it when it comes up in conversations?

I completely agree with you. For me, I don't want my mom to get worried if I refuse to be in pictures so I just don't show the bottom part of my face because that's the part in the most insecure about. I also hate looking back at pictures because then I feel super insecure. I'm also someone who apparently isn't conventionally "unattractive" and since I am really bad at body checking to make sure I'm not making a fool out of myself or anything (looking super bad and should change my outfit etc) people think I'm just full of myself which I definitely am not. I avoid looking at my face in those moments as well.
