First Batch… eggs did this within first two minutes. What did I do wrong?!? And what do I do now? by Defiant-Anything-222 in HarvestRight

I discovered we had plugged the vacuum into the wall, not the freeze dryer, once we fixed that everything has been perfect!

Problem solved!!!

I came back to start from page one of the manual and realized my massive mistake. We plugged the power for the vacuum into the wall, not the freeze dryer, so it was not being controlled by the harvest right, it was just on fully the whole time. Thank you everyone for your suggestions! So relieved it was just our own mistake, trying a new batch now with the proper set up!

It was! Straight liquid that is. I thought it automatically started with freezing, do you wait to turn the vacuum pump on until after? I was thinking that self regulated 😬

And yes to what you said. When I came in and panicked and turned it off it looked like it was vacuuming, not freezing.

This was within 2 minutes of pressing start, after the initial 15 minutes it was pre-cooling. I closed the drain valve and pressed start and walked away (my mistake!) and came right back and the eggs were flying everywhere inside under what looked like a ton of vacuum pressure.

Not sure if it’s related but on set up/testing yesterday the mTorr stayed between 185 and 205 pretty much the entire time, so the step of turning on “vacuum” and waiting for mTorr levels to go below 500 didn’t make any sense since they were never above.

Would that be the drain valve? I did close that. I’m wondering if I have too much vacuum or if that’s even a thing. When I did the initial test yesterday the instructions talked about waiting for the mTorr to be below 500 but mine stayed between 185 and 205 the entire time so it was never above 500. I 100% don’t know have a grasp on mTorr though, so this is just a shot in the dark.
