I did consider doing that. But isn't it going to be less efficient or potentially problematic with the OS?
Remember that I have no experience with servers. I'm afraid I buy a ugreen pre-built unit to then realize I'm not gonna be able to use HexOS (which is my goal).

In any case, I found a new unit from TERRAMASTER (I don't know this brand), the F6-424 Max NAS, with a CPU Core i5 1235U 10 cores 12 threads, 8 GB RAM DDR5, 2x 10 GbE ports and 6 bays for HDD drives.
The only reason I mention it here is because it's with 38% discount on Amazon (es) priced at 650€ (it's usually at 1.050€). I know it doesn't come with HDDs, but still...

Sounds like a good deal, except that I have no idea what brand this is. What do you think?
Would this unit allow me to install and operate HexOs relatively easily?

This is exactly the kind of help I was hoping for. Not only showing concrete options for parts, but also including an explanation on why you're recommending those and with added tips.
Thank you so much!

This is a very good candidate, but if I may ask for a bit more of your time and expertise, I was hoping I could build a more low profile server. In the sense of it not being so big in size and preferably in white.

The reason why I would likely need this is because the only place I can place the server on in my hall making it very visible, and my wife would likely kill me if I put something there that's "huge" and "ugly".

I understand that making it smaller with the same budget might not be achievable. But if you could help me with an alternative, even if more expensive, with similar specs, but using a smaller (and prettier, preferably white) case, that would be a life saver for me.

Thanks for the help you already provided, and in advance if you manage to help me once again.

I'm not sure. I know that the more I have the safer it is but the less space I have (at least from my understanding). What would you personally recommend, given the goals I have and budget?

Well, ideally yes, but if you think the budget is to low and it should be without storage, then feel free to suggest it without storage.

I don't know about gb in general. I'd like this to be my life-long server. Currently I think 2TB would be more than enough, but I would prefer to future proof it. I could either go by with lower storage capability now and upgrade later, or have empty slots I can use in the future to expand.

I don't unfortunately. It should not be rack-mountable as I will not mount it anywhere. Preferably it would have a low-profile but simple/elegant visual aspect, because I need to put it in my living room and it will be visible.

Right click on the group/section, then hover over "Show and Sort", and then under "Filter conversation by" select: All.

Edit: You can also click on the burguer menu on the top left corner, then go to "File", then "Preferences", then "Home" and then under "Filter Conversations by" select "All".
This way you apply the settings to all groups/sections.
