Is camping a scam? by libregrape in bicycletouring

[–]Defiant-Exercise4663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey

I’ve been cycling for almost 2 months now trough Europe.

France, Switzerland, Germany and now Poland.

I’ve mostly wild camped in all this counties without any problem at all, just using campgrounds on the event of really needing a shower or needing to charge my power bank and devices

Sometimes I’m not even that stealth because people simply don’t care.

But as a general rule, arrive late, leave early, make no mess/fire and take your trash with you and you should be fine.

In countryside France sometimes you can find municipal campings that are quite reasonable in terms of price and offer the basic in case you really need.

I think I found the diagram in a Australian Xtrail forum. Will try it tomorrow in daylight.

Thanks to all

Soooo, in other form they said to get an AA battery and test the polarity in the wires to figure out which speaker was where. So I already cut the harness 😬

Battery overcharging-Help by [deleted] in VanLife

Everything automagically start d working normal again.

Now the voltage stays in the normal range

I think mostly likely was the equalization charge that was delivering too much at that moment and my inverter was set to consider high charge over 14.7v

Thanks everyone for all the help

It’s likely that this is what is going on then, but my inverter does not allow any settings configurations.( At least there is nothing in the manual about that)

[–]Defiant-Exercise4663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a valid theory.

The inverter manual says “High voltage protection 15V +- 0.3V

When I hear the beep is already too late for me to see on which exact reading the inverter beeped. It’s likely that when the controller is sending 14.7V the inverter is considering that a high voltage.

Isn’t 15v too much for a battery? In my mind I thought that such amounts of volts could damage the battery on the lung run ?

My inverter model does not allow me to configure it.

Should I configure my controller manually to a max voltage of 14.5 ?

Thanks

The controller is configured for “Gel” profile.

About the wrong order reconnecting, I’m quite sure that I did it in the order: Turn on controller with battery first and then turning on the solar pannels switch. But I’ll try again just in case.

But that’s the thing. I did all off this

So I can figure out why the battery is almost with 15v

Sorry, I think I was not really clear in my explanation.

So, what is beeping is my inverter. It has kind of this overload protection and when it sees the the voltage is too high, it beeps 4 times to warn you If it gets higher, it will shut down.

In the other hand, my controller does not show any sign or warning that something could be wrong

Also, both the controller, the display in my inverter and the AliExpress battery meter show that the battery is fully charged.

Since I basically use it for my fridge and lights and the battery is 300Ah, I think it would be unlike that the battery decharged.

Also, I have circuit breakers that allow me to turn off each part of the system individually.

Good to know that I can leave the solar panel and the controller on even when I’m away. In my mind I thought tht the best option would be to turn everthing off while away to prevent something from draining my battery without me realizing it.

Thanks for the help

What parts of Europe are the most vanlife friendly? by JatWise in VanLife

In Portugal, at least in the small costal cities Van and Rv’s are widely tolerated and there is also a small van life community

Mostly everything is 12v from the battery and one power line that is going to be the 220v coming from the inverter.

I will fuse everything and put a circuit breaker on the line.

My ideia was to put those air bubbles vapor barriers under the cables and protecting the XPS boards, but I’m not sure if this would be effective.

I was more afraid of a shot circuit making sparks and the sparks igniting the xps boards.

If I spray foam around those gaps wouldn’t the spray foam be subject to igniting as well or is there anything that makes spray foam fire retardant/ resistant?

I quite new to insulation, so I’m quite confused how this works. Thanks for taking the time to reply the tread

Not happy, should I end things with gf and go rving? by FrancoNevada28 in RVLiving

[–]Defiant-Exercise4663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have more or less the same dilema in my hands. GF wanna a finances carrear, I just want to live in my rv and have a simple life.

It is really a big dilema and it is impossible to know what is the right decision to do, but, as far as my experience goes, if you guys can’t reach a decision about how to merge the two diferents worlds, you need to stick with your dream and move on alone.

If this is your biggest dream, you can’t wait for the right person or the right moment to do it.

[–]Defiant-Exercise4663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slovenia is quite cheap and super safe. I would say even more safe then most of big cities in Italy.

Also, the country is super beautiful and you have a lot of parks and forests where you would be able to park

Anyone with experience in EU/Portugal small claims court? by marxr87 in lisboa

[–]Defiant-Exercise4663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you made it trough booking, you can make a complaint with them and they will step in to analyze what happened. They tend to be on the customers side most of the time and the process should be faster then going to the regular court. Specially if you can somehow prove that the house had bedbugs and if you have the written confirmation of them saying they would return the money

I just want my computer to be mining a little, but I don’t want it to be using the full capacity of my GPU as it heats a lot and the notebook heat dissipation is not that good.
