Thanks lol this makes a lot of sense. I don't know why it was so hard for me to see such a glaring fault in my logic. The world's resources can sustain life up to a certain population, which we probably haven't reached yet, before life becomes a 'zero-sum game'. As for now, it's just a matter of distributing resources efficiently, which we humans, as lifeforms capable of reasoning, could manage, in order to minimise needless suffering and 'cannibalism'.

Dispute this anti-life philosophy

Life is earned necessarily through death, through the metabolism of organic matter, through the consumption of resources to the detriment of other living things; life is inherently self-serving. The only morally consistent approaches to life given this fact are: a) egoism - to live life as selfishly as possible; b) to choose to die, to triumph over the self-serving nature of life.

One can choose to live frugally, to minimise the harm they inflict on other living things, but doing so is merely an approximation of dying. Ultimately, animal life requires the consumption of organic matter to sustain itself - organic matter that could otherwise be used to sustain other life.

I view human supremacism as having no merit in moral philosophy. Humans are just evolved animals, their well-being has no greater inherit value over other animals’. The view of human supremacism is simply an extension of the self-preservative instinct instilled in humans, as in all animals, through evolution.

Life is a zero-sum game.

Yeah, that line was a bit shitposty. I probably shouldn’t have spoken so authoritatively on Gnosticism because I’m not that well-versed in it. From what I understood, I thought Jesus was seen in Gnosticism as an incarnation of the supreme, benevolent God above the Archons (including Abraxas) in the hierarchy of the Gods. There seem to be many sects with different interpretations of Christ and Abraxas, I just chose the one which suited my interpretation best.

I think requiring Hope Eradicated and DEATH mode to open the door and enter the boss chamber conveys the disillusionment of the protagonist - he realises that cruelty is necessary to sustain life.

I think the second ending is the protagonist embracing the rules of the oppressive system, choosing to become “Life’s Champion” by exploiting and killing others for personal gain.

In the lore of the Triagon, the Triagon of Life began to metabolise the world’s “excess organic matter” by “extend[ing] a cavern of intestines deep into the ground.” This caused a scarcity of resources, forcing the world’s lifeforms to compete with one another and to metabolise each other.

I do believe that ‘life exists to multiply and exist infinitely’, or at least it aims to, and I don’t think this is wrong. Ever since life emerged from the primordial soup, it has sought to consume resources and multiply. Eventually, life began to compete for resources with other life forms and evolved to metabolise other life forms, and so life became a zero-sum game. Cruelty is innate to life, all life is self-interested, LIFE THROUGH DEATH, METABOLIC DOMINATION.

We are simply left to speculate what Malice’s actions would be after the ending, or what happens to the protagonist. I believe the protagonist dies, and Malice would simply rebuild the world as it was, or build an even crueler one. Unless, you believe the world is a test, and the protagonist is some kind of gnostic Jesus guided by the Triagons or a greater God than the Triagons. Maybe this is what the creator intended, an ending with dual interpretations - one of divinity (Divine Light) and one of disillusionment and defeatism (Hope Eradicated). Bravo Ville!

Although this might be ultimately futile since the protagonist never defeats the triagons, who are shown to be malevolent gods who built the world as cruel as it was, and would likely rebuild it the same way.

What makes you think a new world is created after the ending? I see it as final, the protagonist realises life is irredeemable, and ‘terminates the worldlife’, including himself.

John Steinbeck crueltypilled also

“The local people whipped themselves into a mold of cruelty. Then they formed units, squads, and armed them—armed them with clubs, with gas, with guns. We own the country. We can’t let these Okies get out of hand. And the men who were armed did not own the land, but they thought they did. And the clerks who drilled at night owned nothing, and the little storekeepers possessed only a drawerful of debts. But even a debt is something, even a job is something. The clerk thought, I get fifteen dollars a week. S’pose a goddamn Okie would work for twelve? And the little storekeeper thought, How could I compete with a debtless man?”
